We are looking for qualified or student Radiographers to apply for a Band 5 posts in our friendly and hardworking plain film team based at Torbay Hospital.



We will consider full or part time appointments and flexible working. Students who are yet to qualify are welcome to apply. Those candidates offered an interview will be expected to attend in person as there is a practical element to the interview process.



As a Band 5 Radiographer within this Trust, you will be based in Torbay Hospital, gaining skills and experience in a wide range of modalities, including general radiography, fluoroscopy, A&E, paediatric radiography, mobile & theatre imaging.



Our 24/7 service is mainly based at Torbay hospital, but we also provide 7 day working at Newton Abbot Community Hospital. Further plain film imaging is also provided at both Dawlish and Totnes Community Hospitals.



Please note:

A commitment to the out-of-hours rota at the DGH and Newton Abbot Hospitals is expected.



To work within all mandated Regulatory guidelines and comply with all Trust and Departmental, Policies Protocols and Guidelines, ensuring high quality, safe working practices in a safe working environment



Provide highest quality of care, treating all patients equally



You will be responsible for the safe and efficient use of expensive and complex technical equipment



To work as part of the wider TSDFT team, supporting patient pathways for all patient types, assuring that patients receive the most effective and efficient service



You will supervise and advise trainees and students.

Entitled as Operator under IRMER (Ionising

Radiation (medical exposure) Regulations) Have detailed evidence of appropriate ongoing professional development (professional portfolio).



Annual attendance in the Directorates

mandatory training programme.



Provide clinical and professional advice and be able to cope with multiple tasks.



Self-organiser able to work under own initiative within proficiencies achieved.



Team working skills.



Basic knowledge of IT skills.



Must have good interpersonal skills as they will have contact and working relationships with patients/public, a wide variety of staff,

including all radiology personnel, medical staff, nurses, healthcare professionals, support staff, and visiting equipment engineers.



Working with ionising radiation



Radiographers must have awareness at all times of radiation protection as both staff and patients must be protected from

inappropriate irradiation.



You will be required to position & manoeuvre patients and equipment on a daily basis. In any booked or ad hoc list patients may be ambulant; wheel chair bound; or on a stretcher or bed.

Transfer to a couch may be necessary. Use of a hoist may be necessary.



There is regular exposure to distressing or emotional situations on a daily basis e.g. badly injured

patients and intoxicated, aggressive or abusive patients and relatives and occasional exposure (few

times per month) to highly distressing situations e.g. severe trauma cases, cardiac arrest



Frequent exposure to bodily fluids e.g. blood, urine etc, infection risks and occasional exposure to fleas/lice and intoxicated, aggressive or abusive patients and relatives.



Ability to prioritise workload as radiographers often work single handed out of hours; stress levels are increased.
