This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of an innovative and forward thinking dietetics service at one of the largest Trusts in the UK, rated 'Outstanding' by the CQC.
We have two fixed term band 5 positions within our acute team to support a maternity leave for 12 months and welcome applications from newly qualified to experienced Dietitians. This post will focus on adult clinical dietetics with a varied and interesting caseload of both in and out-patient work. We are also able to offer you a range of clinical opportunities to develop and consolidate your portfolio whilst offering exceptional lifestyle opportunities working for Northumbria Trust in the incredible county of Northumberland.
If you are ready for a new challenge to develop your skills and want to be part of a supportive and experienced team of dietitians this is the opportunity for you!
You will join our friendly and experienced team of Dietitians, Dietetic Assistant Practitioners (DAPs), Dietetic Assistants (DAs) and Nutrition Nurse Specialists who are based across the trust. You will support our acute adult clinical team by covering a variety of wards and general outpatient clinics which may be virtual, face to face, telephone and domiciliary.
We are a large department with over 50 staff across several teams: acute, diabetes, paediatrics, community, adult weight management, home enteral feeding, public health and admin, predominately based between the 3 main sites. This post will sit within the acute adult team although we can offer the opportunity to gain experience by shadowing the other teams.
We take A, B and C students from across the North East and North Cumbria partnership and all staff are encouraged to take part in student training - support will be provided for the successful applicant.
We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, covering one of the largest geographical areas of any NHS trust in the country. Leading in innovation and quality - opening a state of the art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. Do you want to work in one of the best performing NHS organisations in England? Work in an organisation that supports its staff and focuses on staff experience as much as it does the experience of its patients? You can live and breathe in an area that has the cleanest air, cost effective living, great nightlife, some of the best schools with a wealth of history available on your doorstep. Sound too good to be true? Well it isn't, this is what you get when you work for Northumbria Healthcare, this is the Northumbria Way! Please read 'applicant guidance notes' before submitting your application.
These roles will assist in the provision of a quality Dietetic Service to the population served by the Trust. The caseload includes diverse in and out-patient work and also provides the opportunity to gain experience in a wide range of specialities.
The post will entail working collaboratively with key health care professionals such as Trust medical and nursing staff, GPs, community partners, care home staff, speech and language therapy and the learning disability team.
You must be able to work autonomously, both as part of the dietetics team and the wider MDT. It is also expected you will contribute to student training and act as a support for the DAs and DAPs. We encourage participation in regular CPD activities, audit, research, quality improvement and hold regular departmental and team meetings allowing the opportunity to learn from training, case discussions and peer support.
These posts will be based at one of the Trust but may be required to work Trust-wide to meet the demands of the service.
