This is a fantastic opportunity to join the award-winning communications team at NHS Midlands and Lancashire CSU, who are working in collaboration with AGEM CSU. We are a 90 strong communications and engagement team, our services include everything from public relations, engagement and consultation to design, digital and campaigns.

As Digital and Content Specialist, you will support the operations of the Communication and Engagement team but more specifically, the Campaigns, Creative and Digital team. You will be required to support a wide range of internal and external clients to develop, optimise and enhance content across websites/microsites/extranets using digital tools.

You will proactively identify ways to enhance client communications websites from a content and user experience perspective, as well as and be able to make recommendations for development, based on the latest insights, trends, and technologies. Confident in using website content management systems, you will also have a strong awareness and understanding of SEO.

Key Responsibilities and skills

  • The post holder will be responsible for managing the departmental email inbox on a day-to-day basis, acting as the first port of contact for our clients. They will workflow client requests through to completion and manage all client communication. They will be required to assess the urgency of the job against our set service level agreements to ensure all briefs are met in terms of timing, objectives, and budget.
  • Support the creation of complex costed proposals in response to client requirements, including writing compelling client proposals that meet our clients\' needs, identified through listening and capturing requirements and using latest insight and trends. This includes supporting and responding to client queries.
  • Proactively monitor and respond to client requests for digital support, identifying client needs and requirements by using briefing forms and liaising with the necessary members of the campaigns, creative and digital team to workflow requests through, this will include working closely with website developers and designers.
  • Create, coordinate, and deliver compelling training packages to our internal / external clients to support delivery of new client websites and digital communications management.
  • Working knowledge of project principles and ability to lead client projects, aligning to the timeline and budgets whilst forecasting slippage in timings and mitigating wider delivery impact across the team.
  • Proactively check content for accuracy and quality, proofread and suggest ways to optimise and improve content for web.
  • Support the management of website hosting arrangements for our clients and hold a strong awareness and understanding of cyber security.
  • Coordinate client content (including copy, images, and videos) to effectively optimise and enhance websites, advising on best practice layouts and solutions for user experience (UX), user interface (UI) and accessibility.
  • Work with wider campaigns, creative and digital colleagues to support the development and implementation of digital communications strategies, for internal and external clients.
  • Provide high quality content management support for our clients. This will include making content edits, adding new content, building new pages, and making general updates to websites in the Content Management Systems (CMS), escalating to the development team where required.
  • Support the digital team in the end-to-end delivery of new client websites, which will include contributing to the beta stage and undertaking usability testing before release.
  • Review and monitor the effectiveness of digital content for clients, providing reports and analysis on web and digital media usage, trends, insights and user behavior data using Google Analytics, Data Studio and social listening tools to support future marketing campaign activity and strategy development, this will include setting up Urchin Tracking Module (UTM) codes to track campaigns.
  • Ensure client websites are optimised for Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and be able to confidently educate clients on best practice techniques.
  • Work closely with the design and developer teams to ensure client websites are built, designed, and maintained in line with industry-leading standards and techniques, including the latest accessibility regulations. This includes best practice techniques for user experience (UX) and user interface (UI), making sure architecture and navigation of all new and existing websites delivers a high-quality journey. To provide advice and guidance to internal clients on all aspects of website management, development, design, and compliance.
  • Demonstrate a proactive approach to continuous improvement, with the ability to critically analyse data and facts, making recommendations to clients across the complex and ever-changing digital communications landscape. This will include undertaking desk-based research, reviewing complex performance data and trends and displaying comparative data and facts, discovering user insights as well as undertaking user testing.
  • Support clients to develop their understanding of the importance of copyright, privacy, accessibility regulations, and brand guidelines, in relation to their website and responsibility by delivering effective verbal and written communication, engaging training sessions and resources.
  • Undertake complex audits for clients, which includes assessing large website site maps, considering accessibility implications, UX, UI, and SEO. Findings and recommendations will be presented to clients delivered in both written and verbal presentation/report format/workshops.
