The opportunity:

Cheil UK is in a process of transformation focusing on growing its reach within its most prestigious portfolio, Samsung Electronics.

Samsung has a broad and clear vision to grow its online retail business and increase revenue over the next 3 years. Cheil are in a position to become a more strategic, creative and production focused partner, leading the development of Samsung\'s DTC offering through a more effective, efficient and quality focused digital service. Samsung UK & IE (SEUK & IE) is the first region to be part of Cheil UK\xe2\x80\x99s new way of working which requires a Digital Business Director with a strong understanding of business development, business strategy and commerce.

The role requires a strong commercial negotiator and business director to shape the senior communications and help guide the client and SEUK & IE team towards delivering quality work and effective business results for Samsung whilst growing revenue for Cheil UK.

The Digital Business Director is a key hire in showcasing and establishing our digital and commerce capabilities within Cheil. Being a team leader of junior to senior account directors, establishing best practice within the team and wider business.

Your background will have clear and demonstrable experience that meet the key responsibilities of this role:

Client management:

  • Apply digital, including commerce knowledge, insight and experience to help solve our client\xe2\x80\x99s business challenges and achieve their KPIs.
  • Build, develop and grow strong relationships across the Samsung UK & IE\xe2\x80\x99s business.
  • Continually monitor the client relationship and when necessary, act to mediate between the team and the Samsung client, especially on difficult or contentious issues - to help Samsung get the best from the Cheil team.
  • Set expectations and interface closely with all stakeholders to proactively de-risk delivery and to ensure highest levels of team\xe2\x80\x99s performance.
  • Collaborate with other agencies, partners and suppliers to Samsung, to serve the interests of Samsung first.
  • Take responsibility for the quality of work produced by Cheil ensuring that all work is innovative, produced to the highest possible standard, and meets or exceeds Samsung\xe2\x80\x99s business needs and objectives.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and work with Samsung to agree, as far as possible, a stable and predictable programme of work.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of Samsung\xe2\x80\x99s client\xe2\x80\x99s consumers and use this knowledge to give good strategic advice to Samsung and to drive client strategy.
  • Support Samsung in their objective to make Samsung the destination direct to consumer (B2B & B2C) site for all Samsung products and to continue to increase their share of business.
Commercial awareness:
  • Overall accountability for the annual revenue for Cheil\xe2\x80\x99s SEUK & IE team.
  • Lead the client services team to drive profit & revenue growth.
  • Constantly assess opportunities for organic growth within Samsung UK & IE and work with the Cheil leadership team and client service team to follow these up and convert.
  • Manage the forecasted revenue opportunities, accurately predicting the timing and value of projects ahead to support internal resource, capacity planning and operating costs.
  • Provide and maintain forecasts and revenue reports to manage client revenue to senior stakeholders within the business.
  • Maintain the finance process that ensures Samsung is regularly and successfully invoiced in a timely fashion, as set out in each of the project SoW.
  • Where required, ensure Cheil has a signed SoW and EO number from Samsung before any work commences.
Leadership & management:
  • Provide leadership, strategic direction and management to the client services team and the wider Cheil UK team to ensure Cheil is continuously supporting Samsung UK.
  • Practice and actively promote a \xe2\x80\x9cone team\xe2\x80\x9d philosophy - driving maximum collaboration between team members, and also with Samsung, to find the best possible solution to Samsung briefs.
  • Challenging the business in its approach and ways of working to achieve better results.
  • Be instrumental in pulling together the right resources, finding the right skills whilst adhering to the working model to ensure that Cheil delivers excellent quality and output for Samsung.
  • Ensure that the client services team works effectively in partnership with the wider agency team, specifically including user experience, data, design, technology, strategy and content.
  • Continually develop, implement and support the working model to help formally identify additional business opportunities, drive organisational efficiency and strengthen our service delivery with Samsung.
  • To constantly be solution focused and to instil this approach within the entire Cheil UK team.
  • Be fully accountable for the Samsung account (and work), ensuring Cheil delivers to agreed service levels.
  • Ensure performance tracking and reporting is in place to hold staff accountable for their personal work quality & productivity as well as client specific results.
  • Setting clear development targets, expectations and goals for the client services team in SEUK.
  • Identify opportunities for PR, promotion and awareness-raising for Cheil, and work with Cheil\xe2\x80\x99s internal team and Samsung to make the most of them.
  • Using existing knowledge and experience in growth to support Cheil\xe2\x80\x99s new business department in winning new work and clients.
