The Post

An excellent opportunity has arisen within the Communications, Marketing and Recruitment Directorate for a Digital Content Officer. The award-winning marketing team at the University of Stirling, communicates with a wide audience across a number of platforms including web, social media, digital advertising, publications and email. Leveraging these channels is particularly important in fostering our relationships with students and staff and in raising the profile of our brand in a global market. We are looking for a Digital Content Officer to support and enhance our digital communications. The post holder will be a content specialist with expertise in writing and creating targeted, compelling content for key audiences as well as a strong project manager who can work with and manage agency relationships. The Digital Content Officer will be creative and innovative, with the ability to bring to life insights, topics and trends; interrogate analytics; and produce great reporting and storytelling. Passionate about the role of digital marketing-communications in engaging audiences, the Digital Content Officer will be highly organised and an outstanding communicator while keeping a clear eye on strategic goals and priorities. The successful candidate will be aware of innovative best practice and emerging trends within digital media, with an ability to make recommendations and plan strategic digital media campaigns. Reporting to the Digital Marketing Manager, the post-holder will be an enthusiastic team player, working closely with colleagues in the marketing and communications teams, and confident in building effective relationships across the University.
Description of Duties

  • Create compelling stories to promote the University brand and engage key stakeholders through: digital copy; emails; blogs; photography; video; social media; presentations; and infographics \xe2\x80\x93 from research to creation, through to editing and delivery
  • Develop and maintain content strategies and schedules of digital communication activities which will support delivery of the University\xe2\x80\x99s key strategic objectives, in particular around student recruitment in key markets
  • Work with agencies to develop strategic integrated marketing campaign and manage its delivery ensuring projects are completed on time, to budget and provide required results
  • Project manage campaign delivery including creation of critical time paths, budget management, relationship building and reporting
  • Create email nurture tracks and work with an external service provider to support our recruitment conversion activity
  • Create, produce and edit engaging content for the Chinese website and Chinese social media platforms
  • Support the development and maintenance of digital assets and social media accounts
  • Act as a Brand Ambassador, ensuring consistent and correct use of the brand across communications platforms used throughout the University
  • Create and manage templates for user-generated content throughout the University
  • Produce creative, strategic content to support advertising schedules and online paid media campaigns
  • Produce high-quality, visually-engaging, on-brand rich media content for the website, virtual events and social media
  • Recruit and collaborate with students to create on brand content
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties required to contribute to the work of the Communications, Marketing and Recruitment Directorate

Essential Criteria

  • Degree/HND or equivalent relevant experience
  • Extensive experience of digital content creation/ marketing
  • Experience in creating and developing content across multiple channels including: website, social media, blogs, emails, marketing collateral, presentations, advertising and publications
  • Experience of creating and aligning digital content creation with SEO goals to ensure maximum impact and assist with conversion activity
  • Experience of managing the delivery of integrated marketing campaigns
  • Competent in the use of social media with experience of working with digital analytic tools e.g. social network analytics
  • Exceptional copywriting skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, customer-focussed, compelling content
  • Experience of branding, and marketing-communications campaigns
  • Creative and ideas driven with the ability to critically evaluate work and provide constructive feedback for improvement
  • Excellent organisation skills with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects and to work to tight deadlines
  • Self-motivated, self-disciplined team player, who is able to work confidently and independently when required, and will contribute positively to the team environment
  • Outstanding communicator and networker with excellent verbal communications skills
  • Experience of producing rich media content including video and photography

Desirable Criteria
  • Experience in using Adobe Photoshop, Premier Pro and After Effects
  • Experience using workflow/project management software, i.e. Asana, Trello, etc.
  • Confident in building e-mails within a CRM platform, i.e. Mailchimp
  • Experience in using a Content Management System for the creation and publishing of blogs, i.e. WordPress
  • Experience of Higher Education
