Brief Description





To embed and drive digital adoption within Network Rail, working with business users and customers to understand and gain value from digital services, platforms and change through digital acceleration, leadership thinking and decision making. Drive digital service adoption and integration, delivering business value from e.g. improved safety, reduced maintenance, smarter use of technology; and critically using digital technologies, in enabling digital-led thinking and change, making a material impact on business value, safety, and cost.

About the role (External)





Lead on providing digital adoption support and direction which is aligned to users and customers outcomes using digital services and technologies


Being an informed consumer of service, enabling the most appropriate engagement with both central and distributed IT Services functions, supply chain, and other external parties to develop and deliver fit for purpose digital solutions.


Developing the approach and supporting the shift of digital thinking to integrated digital product teams delivery, where appropriate - where those who benefit most from a digital service become the same people who augment and run it to embed adoption


Develop in-depth understanding of Network Rail's business problems and challenges to advise on digital adoption methods and to communicate the sharing of success and lessons across Network Rail to enable rapid digital adoption and understanding.


Identify and coordinate the engagement and adoption of digital services across Network Rail and the supply chain to deliver value adding activities


Lead on engagement, communications, and promotion of digital stakeholders, influencing delivery of desired outcomes in a modern and suitable way.


Through comprehensive technical, platform and digital solution understanding, provide guidance and strategic influence to executives and business customers on the potential use of technology, methods and working techniques (e.g. Design Thinking, Agile, SAFE).


Build and support digital and data skills/competency development through engagement with customers, digital skills training/Digital Academy in digital leadership, data, and platforms, building on existing IT and data groups to develop digital and data communities.


Lead the transfer of successful digital outcomes with our customers to scale to the wider Network Rail through appropriate digital forums, Business networks and established value add relationships.


Understand latest trends and knowledge across other industries in the use of digital products and, identifying where these may be applicable within the context of Network Rail.


Essential



Substantial experience at senior management level in a technical or business function, with demonstrable evidence of understanding the potential of digital technology and how to generate successful outcomes from it. High performing change agent who has experience in delivering digital change initiatives and in scoping and delivering large scale, complex, strategic change programmes across a business and delivering return on investment and value. Possesses strong interpersonal skills to be able communicate and influence senior stakeholders and customers Can eloquently communicate complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences at all levels. Can demonstrate strong commercial acumen and has experience in demonstrating value through value management and benefit application of models. Has proven experience in strategic risk identification, assessment and management. Ability to inspire others and demonstrates high levels of emotional intelligence Possesses a broad understanding of the information systems industry, emerging digital technologies, information security and cyber security and the implications for the wider business environment. Knowledge and experience of asset intense industries such as mining, transport or utilities. Passionate about innovation and the delivering on opportunities for increased value Flexible and open to change, ability to infect others with their enthusiasm.

Desirable

Programme and Change Management qualification

Experience in using variety of adoption models and methods, ways of working (Agile, design thinking, DevOps, Safe) applying design thinking to business problems at senior exec level
