We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and confident individual to join our Cyber Team as a Digital Media Investigator.


Our Digital Media Investigators are working at the cutting technical edge of policing, finding smarter ways of using technology to bring offenders to justice. You will provide advice and support to a range of stakeholders including victims of cybercrime meaning excellent interpersonal skills and being able to demonstrate empathy is vital to provide a satisfactory service.


We are looking for someone with sound knowledge of complex crime investigation and digital evidential opportunities to support Investigators around the force.


In this role you will have exposure to complex criminality that may involve offences against children, violence and sexual offences.

In this role, your main responsibilities will be:



Providing technical expertise and early tactical advice to Senior Investigating Officer's and Officers in Charge engaged in the investigations, and other relevant enquiries. To compose and deliver presentations, to upskill staff and increase the force's response and capability in digital investigations and opportunities. Gather intelligence through relevant open-source methods in order to optimise available evidence and assist investigating officers. Carry out digital examinations of computers, mobile telephones, laptops and other digital devices. Attending crime scenes, arrests and interviews of suspects. Take responsibility and ownership for an investigative workload. Support proactive and covert operations, to exploit digital opportunities. Provide advice and guidance to victims of cybercrime.

Skills, experience and qualifications required:



Due to the nature and location of the role, you are required to hold a full current driving licence in order to travel around the force area. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience of conducting investigations, open-source research and intelligence gathering. Confident with exposure to complex criminality involving offences against children, violence and sexual offences. Experience of making decision and working as part of a team. An understanding of network processes and what digital evidence may be available to assist an investigation. An understanding of cybercrime, cybercrime prevention methods and holding a PIP Level 1 qualification or equivalent is desirable. If you do not hold PiP Level 1, training this will be provided.

Additional Information:



If you are successful in the recruitment process you will start on pay scale 6. Upon completing additional specialist training there is the opportunity to progress to SO1 and SO2.


Applicants successful at shortlisting will be invited to attend an assessment and interview, taking place in person dates to be confirmed.


Work on a bank or public holiday as part of the normal working week will be compensated in line with conditions of service.
