The Digital Officer (Analytics and Performance) is the HES Digital Team's Google Analytics and product performance specialist. You will use your knowledge of GA4 and related platforms to bring insight about our websites, as well as maintaining the setup of our properties and Looker Studio dashboards. You will also have the attributes of a digital all-rounder, with skills and experience you can apply at all stages of website management, being comfortable talking about UX, content, and marketing campaigns, as well as applying analytics insights.

Key Responsibilities of this role



Analytics:



Manage and maintain the HES digital estate's Google Analytics properties, Google Tag Manager, and Looker Studio dashboards, setting up new properties as required. Oversee enhancements to our GA4 setup and dashboards in collaboration with an external supplier, holding regular meetings to align priorities and manage workflow. Regularly measure and report on our website and social media performance, to support corporate priorities and Key Performance Indicators, as well as individual stakeholders. Support the Digital Manager and Senior Digital Officer on high profile communications activity requiring website updates, advising and liaising with senior management, and delivering regular reports. Use knowledge of user experience (UX) best practices to identify opportunities for improvement, support projects, and tackle pain points across the HES digital estate, and inform decision-making through user research and behavioural analytics. Enable internal stakeholders to access clean and reliable data for reporting, performance measurement, and informed decision making. Provide specialist advice, skills, and knowledge to deliver dedicated website analytics support to address organisation business requirements. Work with the HES Marketing team to ensure Google Tag Manager is set-up correctly for campaigns and maintain the Digital Team plan to coordinate campaign setup and cookie compliance. Ensure our websites collect data in full compliance with GDPR regulations and provide guidance to internal stakeholders to help new digital projects maintain the same standards.

General:



Contribute to delivering a shared backlog of continual improvement projects for the HES websites, enhancing the quality, usability, and accessibility of our digital estate. Ensure our websites are live and correctly functioning, identify fixes and coordinate ongoing maintenance for the core HES websites through our third-party supplier. Work with a range of contractors and suppliers - including collaborating on third-party tools managed by other teams - to address website issues and proactively develop our digital estate, employing appropriate tools for the scale of the work, such as helpdesk ticketing systems, clear project briefs, and structured user acceptance testing (UAT). Research and identify digital solutions for our analytics management, such as automated processes and third-party integrations such as SuperMetrics and Monsido. Represent the Digital Team at cross-department and external meetings, working with colleagues at all levels, and be an active member of HES networks. Inspire and educate colleagues through the promotion of digital standards and guidelines, and support digital upskilling, knowledge and understanding throughout the organisation to improve quality. Advocate for user first content and digital first design, prioritising our audiences and persuasively evidencing data-led decisions to a range of colleagues, including those at a senior level. Keep up-to-date with digital developments, new technology and best practice in the sector.

Essential:



Hands-on experience of using analytics tools (such as Google Analytics 4 and Looker Studio) and the ability to interpret information, using data for decision-making. Demonstrable experience of working with a content management system (CMS). Understanding of user experience (UX) design principles and/or user research Excellent planning skills with the ability to manage projects and concurrent workstreams effectively. Familiarity with website accessibility and usability guidelines, and experience working to a style guide. Ability to present to a range of audiences and simplify complex information both verbally and in writing. Enthusiasm to continuously develop skills and curiosity about new digital trends and the opportunities they may present. Experience in copywriting for the web and/or social media, with an understanding of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) best practice and the importance of image management and quality metadata. Knowledge of regulations around GDPR, data protection, cookie management, and the importance of these for website compliance.
