About Women's Wellbeing

Women's Wellbeing is a grassroots, women-led charity based in Birmingham. We support women from underserved communities who face barriers such as limited English, digital poverty, low confidence, and disabilities.

Our mission is to build a digitally inclusive society where women can access healthcare, education, and employment opportunities, helping to reduce inequalities and create healthier futures through digital training.

Recognising the link between digital literacy and health, we launched our Digital Gateway To Employment, to successfully upskill women in high-deprivation areas. Building on this success, we are now expanding our programme by delivering a Six week Digital Gate Way to Employment Project to help women develop digital and employability skills to secure work and lead healthier lives.

The Role

Approachable Digital and Employment Skills Tutors to support women in developing the digital and employability skills needed for work and improved wellbeing. This is a unique and rewarding role for someone who can work independently and bring strong planning and organisational skills.

Key Deliverables

1. Plan and deliver digital and employability skills sessions using approved tools (schemes of work, session plans, ILPs, practitioner reviews), applying a full range of teaching and assessment strategies to meet learner needs, Ofsted and funding targets.

3. Carry out enrolment processes to ensure learners meet eligibility requirements, and upload details accurately on the learner entry system.

6. Monitor and track learners' progress, providing regular feedback and strategies to address areas of weakness or underperformance.

7. Promote and comply with all organisational policies including Safeguarding, Prevent, online safety, Health & Safety, and Equality and Diversity.

8. Commit to the Professional Standards for Teachers and Trainers in Education and Training, maintaining a strong CPD record and evidence-based practice.

9. Create and maintain a positive, inclusive learning environment that motivates women, builds confidence, and supports progression.

10. Maintain accurate records of learner attendance, progress, and achievement, ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements.

11. Be flexible and adaptable in delivery to meet service and regulatory requirements.

Within reason these key deliverables may evolve to meet service need and it is expected that you will be flexible and adaptable in your delivery

Essential Requirements - (key skills & qualifications)

12. Degree or equivalent FE/Adult teaching experience in Digital IT, with a recognised teaching qualification at Level 3/4 (or working towards). Commitment to CPD with an up-to-date log.

13. Strong knowledge of Ofsted requirements and ability to reflect on and improve practice to achieve positive learner outcomes.

14. Experience of teaching adult learners from diverse backgrounds, with sensitivity to cultural needs and barriers.

15. Ability to work independently and deliver engaging sessions both in-person and online, adapting to a wide range of learner abilities.

16. Proven skills in creating Schemes of Work, Session Plans, and Individual Learning Plans, and in tracking learner progress and achievements.

17. Excellent classroom management and the ability to support mixed-ability groups.

18. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and build confidence in learners.

19. Ability to speak a community language (desirable).

20. Carry out and record initial and diagnostic assessments to identify learner needs, strengths, and areas for improvement, adapting teaching methods and resources to support progress.

21. Identify and request appropriate materials, equipment, and resources to ensure high-quality delivery of digital and employability learning.

22. Develop differentiated ILPs with learners, track progress, case studies, provide regular feedback, and address areas of difficulty. Maintain accurate course files and submit timely data on attendance, progress, and achievement.

Role Characteristics

Tutors work directly with women and adult learners in community-based education settings. They play a vital role in building digital confidence and employability skills, while supporting the wider team's mission to reduce inequalities in underserved communities. Tutors are expected to use initiative and professional judgement, tailoring their approach to learner needs and contributing to programme design and delivery.

Knowledge and Skills Required



This role requires a combination of teaching qualifications and practical experience in adult/community learning. The tutor must be confident in digital and employability skills delivery, able to adapt content for learners with little or no prior digital experience, and sensitive to the barriers faced by women from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Strong communication, empathy, and cultural competency are essential. Data protection and confidentiality and safeguarding embedded in practice.

Thinking, Planning and Communication



Tutors are responsible for assessing learner needs, planning inclusive sessions, and creating a safe and supportive learning environment. They will use a range of teaching and assessment strategies to build confidence and progression. The role requires strong advisory and motivational skills to encourage women who may lack confidence, as well as the ability to handle sensitive situations with care and professionalism

Decision Making and Innovation



Tutors are given autonomy to plan and deliver sessions in line with Women's Wellbeing's values and Ofsted quality standards. They are expected to take initiative, adapt lessons to meet the needs of mixed-ability groups, and develop innovative approaches that engage learners both in-person and online.

Areas of Responsibility



Deliver high-quality digital and employability training to women from underserved communities. Assess learner progress and provide feedback to support development. Keep accurate records of attendance, progress, and outcomes. Work collaboratively with colleagues, volunteers, and partner organisations to maximise learner opportunities. Contribute to programme development and evaluation, sharing insights and best practice. Monitoring learner progress with learning outcomes and action plans.

Impacts and Demands



This is a hands-on role with regular interaction with women who may have complex needs. Tutors need emotional resilience, patience, and cultural awareness to build trust and support learners effectively. Sessions take place across community hubs (schools, health centres, community centres), requiring flexibility and occasional travel. The role is rewarding but also demanding, as it involves balancing structured delivery with the personal needs of learners.
