About the Role
We're seeking a visionary, experienced Technology Delivery / Technical Architect to lead the design and delivery of cutting-edge IT solutions across our Council. You will be joining at an exciting time as the Council prepares for the National devolution and Local Government Reorganisation (LGR), where you will be involved with planning, implementing and supporting new systems and networks for the resulting new organisation. You'll be responsible for managing and working with a team of three experienced technical engineers who maintain the Council's cloud based and physical infrastructure, so a good, working knowledge of Microsoft Azure is essential.
Key Responsibilities
The availability, security and maintenance of the Council's Cloud Based and physical network environment.
Ensure the Council's infrastructure is capable of supporting the Digital Strategy and the Public Sector Network (PSN) as we move to the Cyber Assessment Framework (CAF)
Collaborate with the rest of the Digital Team including the Managers, to assist with meeting the Digital Strategy and leading the Technical Design Authority (TDA)
Providing support and advice to Council Officers and Councillors when required.
Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption where appropriate, ensuring they meet the Council's SAAS policy
Provide technical leadership across multiple projects and mentor team members, including working with equivalents in other Council's across Essex.
Required Skills & Experience
Proven experience of managing systems lifecycles including the Software Development Lifecycle
Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and hybrid architectures
Expertise in infrastructure, networking, security, and software development lifecycle
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Comfortable working in fast-paced, agile environments
ITIL / Azure Fundamentals accreditation
