PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
We are looking for an experienced multimedia journalist to create social media and digital video content for the BBC in the North East and Cumbria. Our social media platforms are vital in helping us to reach and interact with people who don't get their local news from broadcast media. This role involves turning news stories etc into engaging social content for Facebook, Instagram, X and Tiktok - link posts, graphics, carousel posts, stories, explainers, reels - as well as digital video for the BBC News website.
We are looking for someone with a flair for digital storytelling who is able to come up with a constant supply of original news stories, self-shoot and edit them for use across multiple platforms. You'll work closely with the wider teams in digital, TV and audio across the North East and Cumbria.
WHY JOIN THE TEAM
Discovering stories through social listening is a key part of this job, and we are looking for someone who is comfortable sifting through social media and using tools to find stories that will appeal to the BBC's lightest users. You'll know how to turn daily radio and TV content into engaging social formats and you'll be just as happy creating original digital content using your own skills and experience.
Please contact social media lead Kristie Kinghorn for more information on the role.
