The Digitalisation & Reporting Engineer is responsible for delivering high-quality, client-facing business intelligence solutions using the Microsoft Power Platform and other digital tools.
This role supports major construction and infrastructure projects by enabling data-driven decision-making through the development of digital tools and interactive reports.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the end-to-end development of Power BI solutions, working independently across all phases from requirements gathering to deployment and post-implementation support.
Design and deliver interactive dashboards, reports, and digital tools that support project teams and enable data-driven decision-making for clients.
Collaborate with stakeholders to elicit, document, and translate business requirements into clear technical specifications.
Apply structured development methodologies, including design, development, testing, user acceptance, deployment, and handover.
Produce and maintain comprehensive documentation, including technical specifications, user guides, and training materials.
Support knowledge sharing and capability development within the team, including onboarding and peer learning.
Contribute to the evolution of BI practices, aligning with organisational goals and client expectations. Provide risk reports for monthly reporting cycle
Project Specific:
Knowledge of PowerBI, Sharepoint, Power Auntomate, Fabric, SQL
Technical Skills and Competencies:
Visualization & UI: able to design high-quality, accessible, and user-friendly dashboards and reports, applying best practices in UI/UX and data storytelling.
ETL & Data Preparation: experienced in advanced ETL techniques such as query folding, dataflows, and incremental refresh; capable of using the M language and Advanced Editor to streamline data transformation processes.
Data Modelling: proficient in designing efficient data models using relational modelling principles; skilled in implementing Row Level Security and optimizing performance through appropriate table structures and relationships.
Solution Architecture: understands how different components of a BI solution interact; able to recommend and implement scalable, maintainable architectures based on best practices.
Development Lifecycle: familiar with structured development methodologies, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and post-implementation support.
Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Skilled in producing technical documentation, user guides, and training materials to support solution adoption and team development.
Power Platform & Microsoft 365 (Desirable): awareness of Microsoft Power Platform ecosystem (Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, Fabric) and integrating with tools like SharePoint, Teams, and Excel.

Qualifications, Certifications and Experience:
Professional Experience developing Power BI solutions, including report design, data modelling, and performance optimisation.
Technical Background: proven experience working with the Microsoft Power Platform, particularly Power BI, and familiarity with tools such as SharePoint, Teams, and the Microsoft 365 suite.
Solution Architecture: experience with designing scalable and secure BI solutions, including implementation of Row Level Security and integration with multiple data sources.
Development Practices: strong understanding of structured development methodologies, including requirements gathering, testing, deployment, and post-implementation support.
Stakeholder Engagement: experience working with diverse stakeholders including clients, project managers, and data owners to deliver tailored BI solutions.
Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate (Power BI), or other relevant Microsoft certifications
Education: a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field/ professional experience.
