We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Dining Room Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will assist in the serving of meals for pupils and staff, supervising and supporting pupils during their mealtime and ensuring a clean and safe dining environment. This role is essential in supporting the daily operations of the school and contributing to the overall well-being of our students.
Responsibilities
Serve food to pupils and staff in a courteous and efficient manner.
Be aware of and manage dietary and allergy requirements, based on the badge system
Help with the setup and cleaning of the dining area before and after meal times.
Assist in keeping the dining room clean during food service, assisting the children in clearing tables etc. and ensure all waste is disposed of correctly and recycling is followed
Supervise pupils in the dining hall to ensure orderly behaviour.
Encourage good table manners, positive social interaction and for children to make healthy choices.
Assist pupils with cutting food if needed.
Monitor pupils for any signs of distress or illness and report concerns to staff.
Follow all health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
Collaborate with other staff to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen and dining operations.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Catering Manager
Requirements
Good time keeping and attendance
Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is preferred but not required.
Basic knowledge of food service, preparation and kitchen safety practices.
Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively with colleagues and students.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
A positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
Proficiency in English to communicate clearly with colleagues and pupils.
