A reliable and motivated School Kitchen/Catering Assistant to support the day-to-day operations of the school kitchen. The ideal candidate will assist in food preparation in the main production kitchen unit, maintain kitchen cleanliness, and play a vital role in ensuring meals are delivered safely and on time to the school kitchen.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in food preparation and portioning according to daily menus
Setting up and serving of meals in line with food hygiene regulations.
Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, equipment, and serving areas
Ensure proper hygiene and food safety standards are followed
Set up and clear dining areas before and after meal service
Clean kitchen equipment and dining furniture as required in designated areas.
Receive and store deliveries in compliance with food safety regulations
Drive and transport prepared food from the production kitchen to the school kitchen
Ensure timely delivery and safe handling of food items during transport
Report any issues or delays in transportation to the Manager/supervisor promptly
Support other kitchen staff as needed
Ensure compliance with health and safety, food hygiene and COSSH (Control of Substances
Hazardous to Health) regulations at all times.
Support the team in promoting equal opportunities in the workplace and delivering services, which are accessible and appropriate to the diverse needs of service users.
Undertake such duties as may be considered appropriate by the Catering Manager in line with the needs of the service.
Requirements:
Previous experience in a kitchen or catering or school kitchen environment preferred
Good understanding of food hygiene and safety standards
Physically fit and able to lift and move catering equipment or food containers
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Flexible and willing to work variable shifts if required
Mandatory Requirement:
Valid UK driving licence (manual) with ability to drive and transport food between sites reliably and punctually
An Enhanced DBS check will be required for this role - either registered to the Update
Service or be willing to apply for one
Must be able to provide two professional references which covers the last 24 months of work periods
Job Types: Part-time, Temporary
Pay: 12.21-12.50 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 20 per week
