We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced ACA or ACCA-qualified professional who has a strong background working at a senior level within an accountancy practice.
In this pivotal role, you'll report directly to the Director of Professional Services and you would have a range of responsibilities including statutory accounts, management accountants, tax returns, VAT submissions and payroll for our external client base. You would be responsible for the accounting services team and manage the daily requirements of both staff and clients.
Part of the organisation specialises in supporting the financial needs of firms of solicitors. Exposure to this environment would be preferred but it is not essential and should not be a reason not to apply if you have not yet had experience within the legal sector.
Your key responsibilities:
Statutory Accounts: prepare annual statutory accounts for sole traders, charities and limited companies, including consolidated accounts where applicable
Tax Returns: prepare and submit personal, partnership and corporation tax returns
Tax Compliance: ensure accurate tax treatment of capitalized items, prepare tax computations, and submit filings to HMRC and Companies House (including share issues and director appointments)
Companies House Secretarial: complete and file confirmation statements, maintain company records, and report changes to Companies House and HMRC
Client & Internal Communication: liaise with HMRC and Companies House on behalf of clients, and collaborate with internal teams regarding year-end adjustments and tax matters
Client Support: provide timely, proactive financial and tax advice to both clients and internal teams
Timely Reminders: send reminders to clients to ensure on-time payment of Corporation Tax and Self-Assessment liabilities
What we're looking for
Qualifications: ACA or ACCA preferred
Experience: you should have a minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role. You will be able to evidence solid experience in: statutory accounts preparation, tax compliance, management accounts preparation. An understanding of payroll is also desired.
Leadership: you should demonstrated success in leading and developing teams - including apprentices - and managing both client relationships and internal resources.
Technical skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel). Knowledge of Xero and Sage is essential. Knowledge of Solicitor accounts packages such as ALB, ActionStep, Leap is desirable but not essential.
Salary is dependent on experience.
