Role Purpose



As our Director of Communications, you will be the voice of our organisation, shaping our narrative and driving our mission forward. You will lead a talented team of communications professionals, strategize outreach to engage diverse audiences, and advocate for the issues that matter most to us. With your experience and creativity, you will amplify our impact and ensure our story reaches those who can help us make a difference.

Key Responsibilities



Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy that aligns with our mission and goals. Craft compelling narratives and visual content that inspires action and resonates with diverse audiences, including donors, volunteers, and the communities we serve. Lead media outreach efforts, building and maintaining relationships with journalists and influencers to promote our initiatives. Enhance our digital presence through engaging social media campaigns, website content, and email marketing. Oversee the production of key publications and promotional materials, ensuring consistent branding and messaging. Collaborate with internal teams to communicate key program updates and advocacy initiatives effectively. Analyse and report on communication metrics to measure success and inform future strategies. Build and lead a team of talented Social Media Legends.

What We're Looking For:



Strategic Communication Skills

:

Ability to develop and implement communication strategies that align with the organisation's mission and goals, effectively reaching diverse audiences across different regions.

Cross-Cultural Competence

:

Understanding and appreciating cultural differences to communicate effectively with stakeholders from various backgrounds and regions.

Digital Literacy

:

Proficiency in using digital platforms, social media, and content management systems to engage audiences, amplify the organisation's message, and foster an active online presence.

Multimedia Production Skills

:

Expertise in using industry-standard software for creating and editing graphics, audio, and video. This includes proficiency in tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects), Final Cut Pro, Audacity, or similar applications.

Storytelling Ability

:

Craft compelling narratives that highlight the impact and importance of the organisation's work, using both written word and visual media to connect with donors, partners, and the public.

Media Relations Skills

:

Build and maintain relationships with local and international media, produce press releases, organise press conferences, and manage media inquiries to enhance the organisation's visibility and reputation.

Crisis Communication Expertise

:

Ability to manage communication during unexpected events or crises, maintaining transparency and protecting the organisation's reputation.

Analytical Skills

:

Use data to evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies, understand audience behaviour, and adjust tactics accordingly for improved outcomes.

Leadership and Team Management

:

Lead a diverse team, providing guidance, motivation, and support while fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

Donor Relations and Fundraising Support

:

Collaborate with fundraising teams to communicate the impact of donations and maintain excellent donor relations.

Language Skills

:

Proficiency in multiple languages can be a significant asset, especially if the organisation operates in regions with diverse linguistic needs.

Passion for the Mission

:

A genuine commitment to sustainable development and poverty alleviation that drives motivation and aligns with the organisation's values.

Adaptability and Resilience

:

Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and overcome challenges in a dynamic and often resource-constrained environment.
