JOB OBJECTIVE



The Financial Director will take full ownership of the finance function within the newly acquired utilities services business. Reporting to the Group CFO, this role will lead the transition from an outsourced accounting service to an integrated, well-controlled in-house team. The successful candidate will drive financial performance, ensure robust reporting and compliance, deliver strategic insights, and implement SAP S4 Hana Public Cloud in line with Group standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



Lead the finance function, taking full ownership of processes, performance, and controls. Deliver accurate annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and weekly cashflow forecasting. Produce timely and insightful monthly management accounts and reporting packs. Ensure strong financial governance, compliance with statutory requirements, and adherence to HMRC deadlines. Oversee balance sheet reconciliations and control account reviews. Provide commercial and financial analysis to support key business decisions. Monitor and analyse contract performance, including Work in Progress (WIP). Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives and financial controls across the business. Act as a strategic finance partner to the operational leadership team. Lead the successful implementation of SAP S4 Hana Public Cloud.

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE



Strong commercial acumen and financial leadership. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. High level of attention to detail and accuracy. Effective communication and presentation abilities. Proactive, energetic, and self-motivated. Confident decision-maker with a hands-on, collaborative approach. Proven ability to lead change and continuous improvement. Proven experience as a Financial Director or senior finance leader in a similar environment. Background in utilities, construction, engineering, or service-based sectors preferred. Degree educated with a recognised professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA). Demonstrable experience delivering robust financial controls and insights. Experience implementing or working within SAP systems--SAP S4 Hana Cloud is highly advantageous. Track record of leading teams and building high-performing finance functions. Evidence of driving efficiency and cost improvements in previous roles.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION



Annual Leave - 33 days inclusive of Bank Holidays Travel to Liverpool twice per month. 37.5 hour working week
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: Up to 100,000.00 per year
