for an engineering and manufacturing organisation based in Dorchester. The role has full responsibility for manufacturing operations including production, purchasing, planning, continuous improvement and despatch. The position works closely with other leaders to ensure consistently high operational standards, timely delivery and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities as Director of Operations:
Lead and develop the operational team, including Purchasing, Planning, Engineering, and shop floor teams
Drive improvements in team performance through goal-setting, coaching, training and effective communication
Ensure operational resources are aligned with customer demand and manage prioritisation of manufacturing schedules
Identify and resolve operational issues related to suppliers, scheduling, staffing, quality and resource allocation
Lead change initiatives to optimise processes and create a culture of continuous improvement
Experience required as Director of Operations:
Proven leadership experience within a technical or manufacturing operations role
Strong background in managing complex manufacturing environments
Demonstrated ability to apply modern manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques
Track record of delivering measurable improvements through effective leadership, motivation and team development
Strong commercial awareness and ability to balance quality, cost and delivery priorities
