Operations Director
to drive forward performance across our Service and Production departments.
Role Summary:
The
Operations Director
is responsible for leading, coordinating, and optimising RVS's operational departments--primarily
Service
and
Production
. This senior leadership role requires a strong operational strategist with a commercial mindset, capable of balancing strategic vision with day-to-day execution. You will ensure seamless delivery across refurbishment, vehicle processing, and aftersales service while maintaining high standards in quality, customer satisfaction, safety, and team performance.
Key Responsibilities :
Leadership & Strategic Oversight
Provide strategic leadership and hands-on direction across the Service and Production departments.
Set and deliver clear performance goals aligned with business growth and customer service excellence.
Champion a high-performance culture focused on collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Operational Management
Oversee the full lifecycle of vehicle processing--from acquisition and refurbishment to delivery and aftercare.
Monitor service and production KPIs, lead root-cause analysis, and drive improvement plans.
Manage budgets, cost control initiatives, and capacity planning to support efficient scaling.
Process, Quality & Compliance
Ensure all operations comply with internal standards, ISO regulations, HSE, and environmental requirements.
Implement and refine processes for lean operations, efficient workflows, and rapid turnaround.
Foster a zero-defect, right-first-time culture with robust quality control systems.
Team Development & People Leadership
Directly manage the Service Manager and Production Manager, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
Promote staff development through mentoring, structured feedback, and clear progression pathways.
Lead change management efforts with empathy, clarity, and precision.
Cross-Department Collaboration
Liaise with Sales, Engineering, Procurement, and Customer Service to ensure operational readiness and alignment.
Act as a key point of escalation for operational challenges, supporting rapid issue resolution.
Contribute to executive-level strategic planning, reporting directly to the Managing Director.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required:
Proven experience in an Operations Director or senior operations leadership role within automotive, engineering, logistics, or waste vehicle sectors.
Strong track record in managing multidisciplinary teams across service and manufacturing environments.
Expertise in process optimisation, lean manufacturing, and operational performance metrics.
Excellent commercial acumen with experience in budget and P&L responsibility.
Strategic thinker with strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Desirable:
Background in heavy vehicles, fleet management, or waste services.
Recognised qualifications in engineering, operations, or business management (e.g., MBA, Six Sigma).
Experience scaling teams and processes in a growing SME or mid-market business.
