We are looking for a Director, Risk Governance, Analysis and Reporting to join our risk function.
Reporting to the Global Head of Risk and working in a collaborative community of professionals across the organization, this is a high-profile leadership role accountable for delivering integrated risk governance and insightful analysis to stakeholders, which you will:
Support executive management and the Board in their regular formal assessments of the effectiveness of the risk management framework and the performance of principal risks against risk appetite.
Collaborate with stakeholders to continuously integrate and improve risk content in key governance and decision-making processes and reports.
Lead information gathering, analysis and content generation for internal (management through to executive and board forums) and external (annual reporting, financing materials) risk reporting. Deliver high quality, insightful analyses and reports.
Undertake independent research and collaborate with stakeholders to maintain credible emerging risk analyses, scenarios and reporting.
Collaborate with stakeholders on scenario analysis supporting business planning and business resilience stress testing.
Coordinate risk governance processes.
Collaborate with stakeholders to influence assurance focus across the three lines of defence and translate assurance results into integrated, insightful risk reporting.
Lead the risk function's governance, performance tracking and reporting processes from strategic planning and budgeting through to operational monitoring. Support the Business Partnering and Decision Support team with demand pipeline and resource optimization processes.
What you'll bring
A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
Significant experience in risk management and assurance in an organization of similar scale, complexity and international footprint. Strong preference for prior experience with mining, metals processing or other industrial environments or in professional services with significant client exposure to these industries.
Working knowledge of professional risk management standards such as ISO31000 and COSO ERM as well as their application within the listed company corporate governance environments of the United Kingdom, Australia and the United States of America.
Prior experience supporting executive governance forums and boards.
Able to build effective relationships to sustain collaboration to solve problems and influence outcomes.
Strong analytical and complex problem-solving skills with ability to translate industry knowledge and relevant internal and external data into novel insights and clear recommendations for improved risk management outcomes. Capability to design and develop analytical models to explore risk scenarios.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills with the ability to engage and influence both technical and non-technical audiences. Proficiency in French is desirable.
Proven capability in developing professional quality presentation materials (conceptual and analytical graphics, story lines, written content) and technical reports that leverage data and data storytelling to deliver insights that appropriately engage external, board, executive and management audiences.
Tertiary qualifications in business or engineering are required along with recommended professional accreditation or certification in risk management.

Rio Tinto's global headquarters is situated in St. James's Square, in the City of Westminster, London, on the edge of the West End, and is the site of the group's original head office. Located over several floors, the office is truly a global hub for the business and is the base for many members of the Executive Committee. As such, the grade II listed office reflects the vibrancy of the location, although it also overlooks the tranquility of the only garden square in the district and is a short walk from Green Park and Piccadilly underground stations.
