We are currently seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic and flexible individual to join our team as a Disability Champion within the new Trailblazer Project.
The Trailblazer Programme is an ambitious, multi-agency initiative led by Neath Port Talbot Council to reduce economic inactivity and improve wellbeing across our communities. We're currently delivering innovative projects in our Opportunity Hubs and outreach locations, working alongside health professionals, training providers, and employers to help people overcome complex barriers to work. From supporting residents with mental health and long-term health conditions, to tackling digital exclusion, housing instability, and low confidence, we're at the forefront of creating tailored, life-changing solutions that make a genuine difference in people's lives.
As a Disability Champion, you will:
Act as a visible advocate for the rights, inclusion, and well-being of disabled people across Neath Port Talbot
Promote an inclusive culture by raising awareness, challenging stigma, and embedding best practices into Trailblazer delivery
Ensure policies, procedures, and services are accessible, equitable, and compliant with the Equality Act 2010
Support employers, staff, and participants to implement reasonable adjustments and inclusive approaches
Build strong partnerships with disability-focused organisations and local communities to strengthen support and referral pathways
Influence organisational culture and decision-making to ensure disabled people's voices shape service design and outcomes
Your daily routine will:
Advocate for and support disabled participants within the Trailblazer programme
Work with staff, employers, and partners to ensure inclusive practices and accessibility are in place
Deliver training and awareness sessions on disability inclusion and confidence
Monitor participation and outcomes of disabled individuals, using data to drive improvements
Support the development of accessible resources, policies, and toolkits
Engage with disability communities and celebrate success stories to promote positive change
Do you have:
Experience advocating for the rights and needs of disabled people?
Knowledge of accessibility standards, inclusive practice, and disability-related legislation?
Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders?
Experience delivering training, awareness sessions, or guidance on disability inclusion?
The ability to identify barriers and create practical solutions to improve accessibility?
A Level 4 qualification in Advice and Guidance (or similar employability/disability-related qualification)?
