Must hold qualification for a Dispensary Technician NVQ level 2 or 3 and would also be beneficial to be registered with the GPhC.
We are looking for a part time, Dispensary Technician who has already completed their Dispensary Technician NVQ Level 2 or 3, with level 3 being the preferred level of qualification. We would need someone to cover 3 days a week, but would like someone who can be flexible and work extra days when needed for colleague annual leave or sickness.
The London Skin and Hair Clinic is a private medical facility and includes a dispensary for our patients to get everything they need for their diagnosis and treatment, all in one place.

, governed by the Doctor's Dispensary Association, we are not a pharmacy, which would be governed by The Royal Pharmaceutical Society. It is important to understand the difference, as we do have different standard operating procedures we work to. Section A: Commercial Management & Business Growth
Promote the use and availability of our in house dispensary to all patients and dermatologists.
Actively seek to improve on the quality and availability of our service by researching new products.
Actively work with pharma providers to improve on the costs of pharma products used by the clinic.
Familiarise yourself with standard medications used in Dermatology in order to be able to support Dermatologists and patients with questions, including topical products, oral products and our topical minoxidil products (with additives).
Understand how aesthetic products help improve the appearance of the skin, and contribute to healthy skin, including a deep understanding of key active ingredients such as vitamin C, Vitamin A, glycolic acid and hyaluronic acid.
Keep abreast of regulatory changes in dispensing and communicate to the Practice Manager where changes affect the service we offer.
Be proactive in suggesting dispensing services and products you feel would contribute to improved patient service or improved clinic profitability, based on feedback you gain from working with patients.
Section B: Patient Care & Administration
Respond to patients' questions about medications by liaising with the doctors in clinic or through email, and feeding back to the patient.
Collect, sort, and evaluate patient medical information.
Communicate with prescribers about patients and medications.
Offer educational materials to patients about their conditions and medications.
Verifies all patient details, using the standard security verification questions.
Handle clerical duties, such as answering phones and emails, placing orders, and taking payments.
Be able to recommend a skincare regime using prescription and non prescription products, in order to provide excellent patient support and help drive product sales.
Understand the clinical protocols for the use of biologics within Dermatology, including for alopecia areata and for Psoriasis. Understand the ordering process for biologics with our partners including Healthnet Homecare and how to support our Dermatologists and patients who are prescribed biologics or who are going on biologic treatment.
Manage repeat prescription requests from our patients efficiently and effectively, process them in line with our repeat prescription processes.
Section C: Daily duties
Clinic administration tasks as directed by the Practice Manager, which may include reception duties or patient support duties.
Maintain a neat and tidy dispensary, be aware of stock issues that may affect supply and be able to problem solve, offer alternatives and increase stock levels prior to out of stock issues.
Taking post to the post office, particularly patient related medications, on a daily basis.
