About the Role
We are seeking a reliable, motivated, and detail-oriented Dispenser or Trainee Dispenser to join our friendly dispensary team.
An NVQ Level 2 in Dispensary Services is desirable, but we are happy to provide full training for the right candidate who demonstrates enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.
You will play an important role in ensuring patients receive safe, accurate, and efficient dispensing services. This role will requireflexibility to work across both practice sites, supporting our dispensary teams as needed.
Primary Responsibilities
Check all medicines dispensed, ensuring accuracy and safety
Dispense prescriptions to patients in line with practice protocols
Collect prescription charges and handle payments appropriately
Maintain stock levels and liaise with the Dispensary Lead regarding reordering
Receive and store supplies, ensuring compliance with cold chain policies
Dispense controlled drugs in accordance with practice policy
Safely dispose of returned or out-of-date medicines
Process repeat prescriptions within agreed timeframes
Provide patients with advice and guidance on prescription-related queries
Manage prescription requests received via email, phone, fax, in person, and online
Assist the Dispensary Lead with monthly returns
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment
Keep accurate records and ensure correct coding of all entries
Secondary Responsibilities
Participate in audits as directed by the Dispensing Lead
Support and guide trainee dispensary staff and students
Stay up to date with the latest guidance to ensure compliance with NICE, CQC, and other regulatory bodies
Requirements
Desirable:
NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy or Dispensary Services
Minimum 1 year of dispensary experience
Essential:
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Strong communication and organisational skills
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Flexibility to work across both practice sites
Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality
