We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Thorn Cross, working as a Distance Learning Support Worker. This role is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37 hours per week.

Site Information





HMP / YOI Thorn Cross is based near Warrington, Cheshire. The prison operates as a Category D open resettlement prison for Young Adult and Adult Male prisoners. The team's aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe, and where causes of prison stress are minimised. The prison's mission is to provide a secure, safe, and rehabilitative environment that encourages positive change and prepares inmates for a successful reintegration into society.


Role Responsibilities





The role of Distance Learning Support Worker is to provide support for learners undertaking remote access courses (e.g. via the Open University). The role would entail providing opportunity for learners to access learning materials, resources, IT infrastructure and also working with external partners around submission of assignments etc. The role has some flexibility regarding hours of delivery and would ideally require some evening work, although we are open to discussions during the interview process as we are eager to attract the right candidate.


Skills, Qualifications and Experience





To be successful in this role, you will need to:


Hidden Difficulties Level 2 or equivalent (or be willing to work towards within an agreed timeframe) To hold Level 2 qualifications in Literacy and Numeracy (or be willing to work towards within an agreed timeframe)
