What's the opportunity?
We're on the lookout for a Distribution Centre Manager to come and join our team at Doncaster. This is a key role within the logistics network and the successful person will be responsible for leading the Distribution Centre with the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the distribution operation.
Key Responsibilities
Manages systems for effectively unloading and receiving goods into the DC in line with company policy and practices to achieve the safe delivery in perfect condition of customer orders.
Manages and assists, as appropriate, team members in the moving, handling and storage of goods within the warehouse in line with established policy and work practices to ensure the good condition of customer goods and optimum use of DC space and facilities.
Manages training in the moving, handling and loading of goods, for delivery to customers, in line with established company policy and working practices to ensure the safe despatch, in perfect condition, of customers goods.
Maintains general good housekeeping within the DC to ensure the achievement of a clean and safe working environment and oversees the basic maintenance of portering equipment to ensure the optimum performance of moving and handling aids.
Operates and maintains systems for the security of the premises, personnel and stock, in particular securing and alarming premises and undertaking the morning security procedures in line with established company practices.
Provides leadership to the entire team, including training and developing and motivating the team to optimise individual and collective work performance.
Manages systems as appropriate to ensure the cost effective use of delivery vehicles and staff, in turn ensuring the timely delivery of customer orders and optimum performance.
Ensures appropriate disposal of waste materials in line with company policy to ensure a clean, safe and tidy working environment.
Manages the completion of all checks and documentation required by law on delivery vehicles and ensures that the appropriate documentation is kept on file and available for inspection at all times.
Effectively controls stock levels, ensuring that monitoring of stock takes place in line with the ScS policies and procedures.
Manages systems for ensuring Health and Safety within the warehouse, in line with the Company's Health and Safety policy to ensure the health and safety at work of all subordinates.
Provides as required management reports on DC activity and delivery performance to ensure that business reporting requirements and timelines are met.
Deals as appropriate with customer enquiries and complaints to ensure a high standard of customer satisfaction is achieved.
Maintains up to date and appropriate knowledge, skills and competencies to ensure ongoing satisfactory work performance.
Undertakes, as required, other duties in keeping with the general nature of the position.
