Role overview



Working closely and collaboratively with existing Business Development teams within the Division there will be an opportunity to design and recruit appropriate supporting resources aligned with project growth.

The postholder will lead strategically important, high value and complex bid opportunities. Working closely internal stakeholders the BDD will lead the creation of a winning strategy and subsequentially executing this strategy during the bid and contract negotiation stage, keeping the strategy under review to ensure that it remains effective, even if circumstances of the bid or client requirements change during the bid process.

The DDD will be responsible for all facets of the bid process, appointing members to their team, identifying and working with partners (potentially including establishing and working within Joint Venture arrangements) and leading bids through the internal Governance procedure.

Key activities



Manage complex deal dialogue with external and internal clients, bringing together the correct subject matter and functional leads as required. Lead by example through ownership of C- Suite engagement with our leading customers specific to bids, extensions and renewals working on Build a culture where strategic planning of accounts is embraced throughout the pre-development, bid and operational cycle and that effective monitoring of performance of these accounts is in place Define and own the win strategy, differentiators and other key strategic activities associated with pursuit and opportunity development and execution Identify the roles and accountabilities within the bid team required to create a winning profitable proposal and lead the assembled bid team throughout the bid process Lead commercial and contractual negotiations, ensuring that Equans policies are adhered to and that competitive and sustainable outcomes are achieved for all parties Responsibility for the quality of all aspects of the bid, including written responses and presentations, ensuring written work is clear, concise and compelling Ensure effective communication is maintained across the bid team and relevant business stakeholders at all times Setting clear direction and maintaining momentum within the bid team to achieve the desired outcome for each stage of the process, including running regular bid calls, hosting workshops, capturing and driving progress on all actions and actively working to remove roadblocks Lead opportunities through internal Governance, ensuring the use of Equans' bid governance process to maintain the strategic direction of the bid and that all necessary approvals are obtained Escalation and Jeopardy Management when appropriate Supporting the smooth hand over to mobilisation and operational teams Ensuring that a lessons learned exercise is completed on all bids Support the development and enhancement of the Opportunity Development Framework; our bid process & toolkit

Skills, qualifications & experience



Director level experience within the construction, FM or Built Environment industry Successful experience in the delivery of retrofit projects in live environments Demonstrable experience of securing significant Growth with new customers Experience of both the UK public and/ or private sector bidding environment Substantial experience of Sales, Bid development and Marketing, challenging the status quo and creating a compelling vision. Strong presentation skills ensuring that Equans' solution and unique selling points are clearly communicated to the client Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills - able to influence and persuade others and deliver success through others and be able to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels of business Strong communication skills - written and oral Capable of leading commercial and legal negotiations with customers Strong customer relationship and stakeholder management skills
