As a Docks and Marina Operative you will service the Dock, Marina and Lock operational requirements ensuring a high level of customer service is provided at all times. You will also act as a Milford Waterfront Ambassador.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILTIES

Support the Dock operations, to include: + Cargo handling, including loading/ unloading of vessel cargoes.
+ Mooring of ships ropes and Duty movements.
+ Provide ancillary services to Dock Users i.e., potable water, flake ice and port waste.
+ Operating port equipment including Marine Crane, Forklift Truck, Loadall and Roadsweeper.
+ Assist in maintaining port plant and infrastructure and reporting defects for repair via FMIS.
+ Oil Pollution Response and Clean Up Operations.
+ Completion of operational checklists as per the Ports SEMS procedures.
+ Liaison with Marina Co-ordinator to assist with information for invoicing.
Support the Pierhead Operations, to include: + Lock Master duties, ensuring Lock procedures are followed at all times.
+ Managing and operating three sets of lock gates and lock schedule.
+ Allocate berths for dock and marina users.
+ Managing water level management and assist with flooding prevention at the Pills.
+ Manage lock traffic management to ensure safe passage of vessels in the Docks Approach, Lock Barrel and Dock Basin.
+ Liaise with Port Control and Pilots with vessel and duty movements.
+ Assisting customers as required.
Support the Marina Operations, to include: + Allocation and berthing of leisure vessels.
+ Mooring of vessels on Pontoon.
+ Fuelling craft.
+ Towing Operations and operating Marina craft.
+ Assist with boatyard and hoist operations, including driving Boat Hoist, Banksman and Shoring and Chocking duties.
+ Completion of operational checklists as per the Ports SEMS procedures and assist Marina Co-ordinator and Administrator with invoicing, account enquiries and payments (including cash) as per HavenStar System.
+ Capture Sales leads on HavenStar System and close sales.
+ Maintaining marina and boatyard area in good order and reporting any defects for repair via FMIS.
+ General maintenance (DIY) of Marina facilities, pontoons and building.
+ Assisting marina customers as required.
Provide duties for Quayside Properties, to include: + General Ground Maintenance of Dock Estate, Cedar Court and Havens Head Retail Park.
+ Regular Security Patrols of Estate, including monitoring of CCTV and addressing anti-social behaviour and assist emergency services as required.
+ Out of hours point of contact for Quayside Properties tenants and Floatels.
Complete duties for Waterfront Destination and Tourism, to include: + Assist with set up and logistics of Cruise Calls.
+ Assist with set up, logistics and Marshalling of Destination Events.
+ Community Engagement.
+ Out of hours point of contact for The Shores.
+ Waterfront Ambassador.
Adhere to Authority procedures; SEMS, Management Procedures, Local Work Instructions, Risk Assessments and COSHH Risk Assessments. Other duties of a similar level as required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential:

Ability to work at height and on water. Full driving licence. Experience of operating plant and equipment. Good communication skills. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team. Knowledge of Microsoft Systems. Knowledge of tides and Milford Waterway. FLT and Telehandler licence. Basic boat handling experience. Previous experience in similar role. VHF Licence.

Desirable:

Previous experience in similar role. Boat Hoist, Slinger,and Banksman certificates. NVQ in Port Operations. FLT and Telehandler licence. First aid certificate. Firefighting training. Health & Safety awareness. Security awareness.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

The post entails working outside in bad weather conditions. This post entails lone working. Shift work (including night shifts and floater cover). * The post requires flexibility to work with both commercial and leisure operations.
