We are currently undertaking significant capital projects including the re-building of workshops, new offices, and improving Southampton's last remaining working dry dock. Having secured a unique and exciting 36m new build project, we are now looking for an experienced Document Controller to join our team based at our site in Southampton.
The Project Overview
The 36m Uncrewed Survey Vessel project involves the construction and outfitting of an advanced aluminium-hulled survey vessel for Ocean Infinity. The vessel is being built to meet stringent international maritime standards, featuring sophisticated systems such as diesel-electric propulsion, integrated automation, and advanced power management solutions. The Document Controller will play a vital role managing all documentation to ensure the timely and efficient progress of the project.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
Create and manage document control process
Update information in the project folder (suppliers, class, etc)
Formalise workflows and suggest improvements
Highlight to the Project Manager any risks to the timeline
Manage access to external and internal stakeholders
Control documents exported to third party regulatory bodies
Identify KPIs and prepare dashboards for the Project Manager
Support the client with meeting cybersecurity requirements for the vessel
The successful candidate will be:
Meticulous and highly organised
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to tasks
A team player, capable of working in a fast-paced environment
Confident setting up and managing document management systems
Confident in managing different EDMS (Sharepoint, Solidworks and PDM) simultaneously
They will have experience in:
Managing EDMS systems in complex projects in naval, civil engineering or nuclear areas
Working on complex projects with a significant number of stakeholders (internal and external)
Preferred skills:
Experience in quality control (ISO 9001 certification) would be beneficial
Knowledge of AI
Experience in IT and cybersecurity would be beneficial
Additional Information
Six-month contract with the option to extend
Based at our site in Southampton (flexibility for some home working to be discussed)
Circa 17.00 to 19.00 per hour (depending on experience)
40 hours of work per week (Monday to Friday - 8 hours per day)
20 days holiday per year plus standard bank holidays.
