Job Description

We are seeking a reliable, enthusiastic, and passionate animal lover to join our team as a self-employed Dog Walker & Small Animal Carer, working on an ad-hoc basis.

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys spending time outdoors, has a genuine love for animals, and wants a flexible extra job with animals that doesn't tie them down. Perfect for someone who's retired, a student or just wants to spend some time with animals.

This role involves us coming to you as and when our staff can't accommodate a service and you either agreeing or not to take it out. We need this person to be competent with strong, big dogs as well as have knowledge on how to care for cats & other small animals such as guinea pigs, rabbits etc. This role can vary on how busy you want to be.

We would like this person to be open to assisting on weekends and evenings.

Key Responsibilities:



Provide safe, engaging, and fun walks for dogs of various breeds, sizes, and temperaments. Follow clients' specific instructions regarding their dogs' needs, including feeding, exercise routines, and behaviour management. Ensure all dogs are walked in a safe manner, including proper use of leashes and handling of multiple dogs at once. Pick up and dispose of dog waste during walks in accordance with local regulations. Communicate regularly with pet owners, providing updates and addressing any concerns they may have. Maintain a professional and friendly demeanour at all times, representing the business positively in the community. Monitor dogs' health and behaviour, reporting any issues to the owners promptly. Transport dogs safely to and from their homes. Ensure all necessary equipment (leashes, poop bags, water bottles, etc.) is prepared and available for each walk. Caring for cats & small animals including feeding, cleaning & checking over.

Requirements:



Genuine love for dogs and experience in handling them. Ability to manage dogs of various sizes and temperaments. Experience with cats & small animals Strong communication and customer service skills.

Your own

reliable vehicle to travel between clients' homes and walking locations. Enough funds to fully equip yourself and your vehicle. Good physical fitness to walk for extended periods, often in varying weather conditions. Flexibility to handle changes in schedule or client needs. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and stay organized. Understanding of basic dog behaviour and first aid is a plus, you must have a canine first aid certificate or get one within the first 4 months. Must be insured and registered as self-employed - this can be done after acceptance for the role.

Compensation:



You are paid per-service, this fee is competitive. Flexible working hours with the ability to set your own schedule. Opportunity to grow your client base and income as part of a supportive and passionate team.
