The Behaviour Change Project is part of the newly appointed Devon Domestic Abuse Alliance (DDAA), commissioned by Devon County Council. DDAA, as part of its approach, aims to manage domestic abuse by including those who cause (or are at risk of causing) domestic abuse related harm. The Behaviour Change Project will hold centrally the safety of victims and survivors of domestic abuse, whilst delivering processes and interventions to those perpetrating domestic abuse related harm. The Behaviour Change Project will adopt the CRAFT approach, a trauma informed and restorative approach that is underpinned by the development of critical thinking through critically reflective practice. The CRAFT approach includes a range of domestic abuse prevention programmes, that can be delivered on a group or 1:1 basis, for those who perpetrate domestic abuse related harm, including those identified as standard/medium and high risk. Working across Devon, the

will be responsible for tailoring and delivering a range of interventions (e.g, support, divert, disrupt, educate) to those who cause or at risk of causing domestic abuse related harm

A tailored programme of activity will be offered to those who cause domestic abuse related harm following an evaluation process to assess suitability. The project will seek to encourage involvement from self-referrals as well as those

referred through wider services and will seek to:

encourage awareness, self-awareness, skills for change.

develop life skills and strategies to reduce and/or prevent future incidents of domestic abuse related harm.

work in parallel with support offered to victims/survivors.

Aims of the project



To reduce levels of domestic abuse related harm and the fear that this causes and prevent escalation of violent/abusive incidents.

To reduce the number of repeat victims of domestic abuse via informed referral processes.

To increase access to interventions and support services for those causing or at risk of causing domestic abuse related harm.

To provide education to those causing or at risk of causing domestic abuse related harm.

To improve the quality of relationships and increase wellbeing for all effected by domestic abuse

Purpose of the job



? Coordinate activity delivered to those causing/at risk of causing domestic abuse related harm and inform the support delivered to victims/survivors of DA.

? To engage (individually and in groupwork activity) with those causing/at risk of causing domestic abuse related harm, encourage and motivate involvement with the Behaviour Change Project

? To assess suitability and establish care pathways for those who refer/are referred to the project

? To facilitate the delivery of programme activity

? To monitor risks posed by those causing/at risk of causing domestic abuse related harm, including updating the Co-ordinator, Devon Domestic Abuse Alliance (DDAA) partner services, and key multi-agency partners, of project involvement, programme attendance and any changes

? To monitor the impact of the project and the interventions offered

? To develop and enhance local stakeholder relationships with a view to enhancing partnership working

? Maintain and enhance DDAA service delivery standards and effectiveness

Main Duties



To build, establish and maintain relationships with Alliance members and other referral bodies, e.g., Police and Criminal Justice, Health, Local Authority and Third Sector sources, to encourage a wide referral base to the service

To initiate and support need and risk assessments, and referral to the most appropriate part of the project or to other specialist support

Provide advice, information and advocacy to those referred to the project including practical support where necessary

Plan, prepare and facilitate the delivery of a range of CRAFT relationships programmes on a groupwork and 1:1 basis.

Carry out appropriate case recording and keep accurate records as required, and ensure these are stored securely as agreed by the Behaviour Change Project Coordinator and DDAA

To attend regular team meetings focused on both risk and restorative principles with Co-ordinator and other team members.

To collate and manage confidential data from partnership organisations and provide information to partner agencies in accordance with DDAA's Information Sharing Agreements, Confidentiality and Child Protection policies.

To support the work of the Behaviour Change Project, DDAA and partnership organisations including attendance at multi-agency meetings where required

To integrate the interventions offered with the support offered to Victims/survivors within DDAA, by close liaison with

victim/survivor services

.

To prioritise the safety and security of victims/survivors within the planning of any Behaviour Change Project activity

Engage in activities to increase general awareness of the Behaviour Change Project

To maintain appropriate performance management information and contribute to reports and evaluation of the project.

Attend supervision, case review, team meetings, team support sessions and training as required.

Travel



The project is countywide in Devon and there will be a requirement to travel within the county between DDAA locations, and other sites and venues which are used for the project and the associated groupwork programmes.

Unsocial hours



There will be a requirement to work unsocial hours dependent on client and project need, particularly providing groupwork programmes outside of standard office hours (e.g., evenings/weekends)

Knowledge & Experience



Essential



o Understanding/awareness of domestic abuse, the potential risks involved and how to assess them

o Experience of working with domestic abuse (victims and/or perpetrators)

o Experience of delivering programmes of support ( to groups and/or individually)

o Experience of delivering/managing sensitive information

o Knowledge of assessment/ evaluation processes

o Experience of partnership working and co-ordinating service access

o Experience of contributing to project reports and evaluations

o Understanding and knowledge of the requirement for confidentiality and safe working practice, and maintenance of records in accordance with the Data Protection Act and other legal requirements

o Experience of promoting services to partnership organisations and working within a multi-agency context.

Desirable



Experience of working independently and as part of a team

Experience of working with the police, statutory agencies and third sector organisations

Knowledge of specialist areas of domestic violence.

Experience of managing community volunteers.
