Responsible for ensuring that the home is kept to a high standard of cleanliness throughout, and that standards of infection control and health and safety are adhered to. This includes keeping service users' rooms, public areas, bathrooms and corridors clean and tidy and ensuring that the home's laundry is up to date including ensuring that residents' personal laundry is clean and well presented. This position can also include working as kitchen assistant. The staff member will usually be responsible for either the cleaning, laundry or kitchen assistant when on shift (as required).
Principal Responsibilities
Cleaning
1. Cleaning bathrooms, bedrooms, toilets and public areas etc to the required standard.
2. Restocking bathrooms and bedrooms with soap, paper towels etc.
3. Equipping the domestics' trolley with adequate supplies and keeping it neat and tidy.
4. Ensure that rooms are deep cleaned thoroughly when vacated and periodically where a service user is long term.
Laundry
1. To manage laundry procedures ensuring a high standard and a good turnover rate to ensure there is no backlog.
2. To ensure laundry is kept tidy and organised with categories of linen kept separate and clearly labelled as per infection control procedures.
3. Responsible for the daily maintenance of laundry equipment, e.g. removing fluff from the dryer.
4. To ensure all service users' clothes are clearly marked and ensure all are maintained in good repair.
Kitchen Assistant (responsible to Cook)
1. To assist with preparing and cooking food in a hygienic manner.
2. To be aware of the Service Users' dietary needs and respond to their comments in respect of the menu.
3. To be involved with the preparation and serving breakfasts.
4. To adhere to food hygiene standards
5. To ensure that all crockery is cleaned properly and hygienically between uses
General
1. Carefully handling and maintaining equipment
2. Report maintenance defects, safety hazards and shortages of stock to the housekeeper or the manager.
3. To ensure records and documentation are up to date and fully completed.
4. Being helpful and polite to the residents.
5. Follow security, infection control, health and safety, COSHH and fire procedures.
Westfield Care
6. Attend training and take part in staff meetings as and when required.
7. To perform any other such duties as may be reasonably required.
