Meet Claire who is a Community Care Assistant for Clifton Homecare. She regularly tells people she loves her job. She joined having worked in retail but wanted a job role which was more rewarding for her personally. Following training and a few months of support in order to develop her skills Claire feels confident and has the desire to progress in her social care career. She comes to work each day looking forward to the day ahead. Clifton Homecare are looking for care workers like Claire who are just as passionate.

Claire usually works 35 - 40 hours a week, supporting a number of regular clients to remain living independently and living their best lives at home. Claire says it feels like a privilege that she is able to build relationships with her clients, who she often feels are like her friends. She feels that she gets so much more out of the work that she puts in and it doesn't even feel like she is coming to work.

A client who she sees on a regular basis is Winnie. Claire helps Freda with aspects of personal care, her medication needs, preparation of meals and drinks and general help around the home. Freda says this about Claire:

"I look forward to Claire visiting me. She is my regular carer and I depend on her so much. She treats me like her own family, always showing me kindness and respect. She helps me to be able to stay at home and I am very grateful to her and Clifton Homecare for this."

Claire often tells people that she loves her job. She often says it's the most rewarding job she has ever had and wishes she had discovered social care sooner. She says:

"It's very rewarding. There's never a day goes by when you're not laughing. When you bond with clients, it's like going to see a family member."
