Position: Domiciliary Care Workers/ Support Workers

Purpose



To share with other staff in meeting the personal care needs of service users in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes independence. The care provided by care workers is expected to include care that would reasonably be given by members of the service user's family and is not to include tasks that would normally be undertaken by a trained nurse.

Key duties



To provide a service of care to clients to enable them to lead as independent a lifestyle as possible. This will involve a programme of personal care and household management that is personalised for each client in the form of a Care Plan. Therefore, care duties will include assisting the client with the following activities and in so doing will always observe and respect the client's dignity, privacy and independence as far as practical:

Personal Care



Dressing and undressing Personal grooming Hair care Personal hygiene Continence management Under appropriate nursing supervision, care of pressure sores Physical handling

Healthcare



Helping with rehabilitation programme as prescribed by Healthcare professionals. Assisting the client to take prescribed medication where appropriately trained.

Dietary care



Preparation of snacks and meals according to the client's likes and dislikes Assisting with feeding as and when required

Household care



General cleaning duties Bedmaking Removing rubbish Laundry Removing refuse or rubbish Shopping and preparation of shopping lists and budgets

Personal services



Assisting with finances and bill paying Personal planning for special occasions Democratic rights - voting etc. To conform to all Policies and Procedures laid down by the Organisation in respect of carrying out these care duties and in other administrative aspects of the business, as relevant. To participate as directed by the Domiciliary Care Services Manager / Supervisor in induction Training and regular in-service training programmes. To maintain accurate, concise, and timely records of client care, diary sheets, time sheets and mileage sheets. To participate in staff, team and quality management review meetings as directed by the Domiciliary Care Services Manager / Supervisor. To report back to the Domiciliary Care Services Manager / Supervisor on any aspect of client care which they feel warrants investigation or urgent action. To participate in reviews of clients' Care Plans as required. To be aware of the tasks and activities which must NOT be undertaken as part of care duties, as set out in Policy 101.

TS Healthcare is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all its staff and volunteers to share that commitment and therefore an Enhanced DBS and evidence of full work History since leaving full time education is required, along with two professional references or four-character references.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: 12.60-12.80 per hour
