Job Description

We are looking for a team of Self-Employed Domiciliary Carers for our client in West Sussex. This is to provide cover for the live-in carer's breaks.

Our client is looking for patient and adaptable carers to support her in living her life to the fullest. She lives with her dog and has a very busy schedule - there's never a dull day.

You will be there to support the client with her day-to-day activities and routines, ensuring she is safe and supported.

Duties will include:



Assisting the client with her personal care, prompting where necessary Using her PEG feeding apparatus following the correct procedures Preparing the clients medication, ensuring the correct dosage is given Completing any tasks required for her catheter Hoisting the client when required Go on walks with the client and her dog, making sure she is safe and disposing of any dog waste (you will need to be able to keep up with her electric wheelchair) Provide care for the client's dog, including feeding, picking up her waste and cleaning her paws after a walk Take care of any day-to-day tasks, such as cooking, cleaning, watering the plants etc Providing general support for the client during her day Monitoring for signs that the client might need additional support - information will be provided on what to look out for.

Skills and Experience



Required:

Experience with Manual Handling with an up-to-date Practical Manual Handling Certificate Must be patient and willing to learn and adapt in challenging situations, as well as the ability to stay calm under pressure Understanding and experience with Autism, with knowledge of Sensory processing issues, Dyslexia & Dyspraxia a bonus Ability to use effective communication methods for those with language processing disorders, as well as knowledge of or willingness to learn AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) and BSL (Training will be given to successful candidates) Awareness of Mental Health Understanding and experience with PEG feeding and stoma care Understanding of sub-pubic catheter care Physically fit to be able to keep up with the clients' active lifestyle Have excellent attention to detail and time management skills

Not essential, but a willingness to learn:



Understanding of any of the following medical conditions - Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Asthma, Scoliosis, Dysmenorrhea, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), POTS, Raynaud's Good de-escalation skills and an understanding of Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) or willingness to learn Knowledge of using a Trauma Informed approach to care to avoid re-traumatisation Knowledge of DID (Dissasociative Identity Disorder), PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), and anxiety

Schedule:

You will alternate with another carer working on a flexible 1 week on / 1 week off rotation.

Shift pattern:

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 7:30am - 4:30pm, Sunday 3:00pm - 11:00pm with some flexibility.

Hourly rate

of 23 - 26

Expected hours

: 30 - 35 per working week

This is a Self-Employed Position.
