Job Description

Overview



To provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to individuals in their own homes, promoting independence, dignity, and well-being. The role involves supporting both adults and children with varying needs -- including physical disabilities, learning disabilities, mental health conditions, and complex care requirements.

Key Responsibilities:



Personal Care and Support



Assist with personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, and toileting. Support with mobility, including the use of hoists, wheelchairs, and other aids. Help with meal preparation, eating, and drinking in line with individual care plans. Administer or prompt medication as directed and in accordance with company policies. Provide overnight or respite care where required.

Support for Adults



Promote independence and enable clients to maintain daily living skills. Offer companionship and emotional support to reduce isolation. Assist with household tasks such as cleaning, shopping, and laundry. Support adults with learning disabilities or mental health needs in developing life skills and engaging in community activities.

Support for Children and Young People



Provide care and supervision appropriate to the child's age, abilities, and care plan. Support with school routines, play, and social activities. Liaise with parents/guardians and healthcare professionals to ensure consistent care. Encourage development and participation in educational and recreational activities.

Record Keeping and Communication



Maintain accurate and timely care records and reports. Report changes in health, behaviour, or circumstances promptly to supervisors. Communicate effectively with clients, families, colleagues, and healthcare professionals. Uphold confidentiality and comply with data protection policies.

Professional Conduct



Follow all safeguarding procedures to protect both adults and children from harm. Work within company policies, regulatory standards (e.g. CQC), and the Code of Conduct for care workers. Attend mandatory training and participate in supervision and team meetings. Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of care delivery.

Person Specification:



Essential



Genuine passion for supporting others and improving quality of life. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Reliability, flexibility, and the ability to work independently. Willingness to travel between service users' homes. Right to work in the UK and ability to pass a DBS check.

Desirable



NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (or working towards). Experience in domiciliary or residential care settings. Knowledge of safeguarding adults and children. Car driver with access to a vehicle (if required by the service).

Working Conditions



Work may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays. Some roles may involve lone working or overnight shifts. PPE and full training provided.
