We are now seeking an experienced and driven
Drainage Operations Manager
to oversee day-to-day operational delivery across our drainage services. This is a pivotal role responsible for planning, coordinating, and optimising engineer activity while ensuring safety, quality, and customer service standards are consistently met.
This role is predominantly office-based, with regular site and depot visits required to support reactive and planned works, carry out quality assurance, and lead by example in health and safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate, and manage daily operational activities across drainage and wastewater services
Schedule and allocate engineers to reactive, planned, and emergency works to maximise productivity and response times
Ensure engineers are equipped with the correct vehicles, plant, equipment, and information to complete work safely and efficiently
Oversee company vehicles, tankers, jetting units, CCTV equipment, and specialist plant, ensuring servicing, calibration, and compliance are maintained
Work closely with transport, compliance, and depot teams to ensure fleet readiness and operational resilience
Conduct site visits to support complex jobs, coordinate emergency responses, and carry out quality assurance inspections
Lead health & safety compliance, including RAMS reviews, toolbox talks, site inspections, and incident investigations
Monitor operational performance, KPIs, downtime, and cost control, implementing process improvements where required
Manage inventory of drainage equipment, tooling, spares, and consumables
Coordinate with external contractors, waste facilities, tanker partners, and suppliers as required
Maintain accurate operational records, job reports, inspections, and compliance documentation
Act as a key escalation point for operational issues, supporting both engineers and senior management
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Proven experience in an
operations management or supervisory role
, ideally within drainage, utilities, FM, civil engineering, or reactive maintenance environments
Strong understanding of drainage operations, including jetting, CCTV surveys, patch lining, tanker operations, and confined space working (desirable)
Demonstrable experience managing engineers, scheduling work, and optimising asset utilisation
Solid knowledge of health & safety legislation, risk assessments, and safe systems of work
Comfortable working with IT systems, job management software, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams)
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, reactive environment
Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the confidence to liaise with engineers, contractors, and clients
Full UK driving licence (essential)
