We are seeking a skilled

Draughtsman / Draughtsperson

to join our established design team within a fast-paced roofing & cladding contractor based in Coventry. This is a hands-on role, responsible for supporting the delivery of high-quality design outcomes -

The Role

You'll produce accurate technical drawings and visualisations for roofing and cladding projects, collaborating closely with architects, engineers, fabricators, contract managers and site managers. You'll translate design concepts into actionable plans, prepare fabrication schedules, and quantify materials to support efficient, safe installation on site.

Key Responsibilities

Create detailed

GA (general arrangement)

and

detail drawings

using CAD software, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project specifications and industry standards. Develop, review and coordinate designs in collaboration with internal teams and external clients. Prepare

fabrication schedule drawings

and

quantify all materials

required for procurement and installation. Attend

online and in-person design meetings

; undertake

site visits

for measurements and detail reviews. Review and modify designs based on client feedback while maintaining compliance and buildability. Assist with client-facing documentation, presentations and record drawings. Keep current with drafting technology and workflows to drive quality and efficiency.

Essential Software Proficiency

AutoCAD

(Teams, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)

What You'll Bring

Demonstrable experience producing construction drawings - ideally within

roofing & cladding

or facade design. A strong grasp of technical and graphic communication principles; ability to interpret specifications and apply them effectively. Meticulous attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy, safety, and buildability. Clear, confident communication skills and collaborative approach.

Portfolio

: Ability to provide relevant examples of previous drawings (PDF details and/or GAs) specific to construction and preferably roofing & cladding.

Nice to Have

Familiarity with UK standards and typical roofing/cladding systems and interfaces. Full UK driving licence for site travel (advantageous).
