What will you do?
The role of a Howard Tenens HGV Driver is to be responsible for the transporting of goods and deliveries to their intended destinations, complying with all safe working practices, legal requirements and company processes at all times. The Driver Trainer will be responsible for delivering comprehensive training to drivers, ensuring safe practices in driving, equipment use, and compliance with regulations. The role involves conducting assessments, providing feedback, and maintaining training records.
Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to):
Ensure that all legislation that is applicable to the operation of the company vehicle, including all driver related matters (hours, speed, etc) is complied with.
Ensure that all company policies are complied with - in particular those that relate to H&S.
Ensure the safe and secure loading, transport and delivery of customers goods.
Ensure that, where possible, all deliveries are completed on time.
Complete promptly and accurately all relative paperwork.
Report immediately any breach of security, emergencies or accidents.
Act as a positive ambassador for Howard Tenens when visiting customers premises both in appearance (condition of the vehicle, wearing of uniform) and attitude.
Other operational tasks as directed/requested by operational staff
Responsible for highlighting any potential quality issues, including hygiene and damage issues to your Manager.
Completion of necessary process control and quality documented records, in a timely manner (QC checks).
Manage daily transport operations and driving training initiatives
Provide hands-on instruction during driving practice sessions
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies
Evaluate trainees' performance and offer constructive feedback
Foster a proactive team ethos within the Transport Department
Assist in developing training materials and resources
Conduct 1-to-1 meetings with drivers on compliance matters
Perform Transport Driver Training audits
Ensure safe loading, transport, and delivery of goods
Complete paperwork accurately and promptly
Act as a positive representative of the company at customer premises
Address quality issues and maintain necessary records
Manage Training Matrix and plan training sessions
Complete Delivery Point RA and Profiles
Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
Appropriate drivers licence to cover the class of vehicle provided
Appropriate Vocational License.
The ability to deal with all required paperwork
Basic PC literacy
Physically capable of undertaking the work required after any reasonable adjustments have been made.
Ability to work and complete tasks to set deadlines with a minimum of supervision
Proficiency in management programs like telematics (CMS) and EDDI scores
Be able to demonstrate experience in a similar role
