Class 1 bulk powder tanker driver collecting and delivering powder products for the construction industry. Ensuring that deliveries are on time and that health and safety procedures are followed at all times.


Wincanton operate on behalf of Breedon Cement to provide transport for both bulk powder and palletised deliveries. The contract has a nationwide delivery area with key distribution points at Dagenham, Hope Valley, Runcorn, Walsall and Port of Blyth.


The role of the relief tanker driver requires the loading and pressurised discharge of powder products - predominantly cement. The relief driver will be required to provide vehicle cover whilst the regular driver is away. To this end, the relief driver must be completely flexible to travel away from the base location to operate a vehicle stationed elsewhere as necessary. The relief driver must be prepared to tramp-out to suit the needs of the business.

39,361.92 per annum basic (based on 48 hours per week)

15.77 per hour

26.20 for a night out

17 per day relief driver bonus

Monday - Friday

Saturday paid at time and a half Sunday paid at double time

Minimum 48 hour per week contract

Full bulk tanker training provided

Paid holiday entitlement - 25 days plus 8 bank holidays

A Week off at Christmas (3 days from your holiday allocation)

Sick pay after 1 year of service

How will you contribute?

You will be responsible for the accurate and timely movement and delivery of our customers' products, servicing the Construction sector. Ensuring all documentation is completed accurately with attention to detail. Adhering to safe working practices to ensure the safety of yourself and others at all times. Complying with all relevant legislation in line with Drivers Hours and Working Time Directive requirements (opt out available). Responsible for the Health and Safety of themselves and others, completion of dynamic risk assessments, adhering to safe working practices and the Health & Safety at Work Act, including accident, incident and damage reporting. To ensure contractual delivery KPI's are attained. Attending any relevant training as required to ensure you remain fully equipped to perform your role effectively and to assist in the development of continuous improvement. Keep the vehicle you use clean, tidy and well cared for, so it is ready to be used the next day.

What will you bring?

Must hold a valid HGV LGV Class 1 licence

Must hold a valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC Card)

Must hold a Digital Tachograph card

12 months Class 1 driving experience preferable

Must be available to do 4 nights out per week if required

Must be fully flexible on working hours

Possess excellent customer facing awareness
