This is a field-based driving role, operating Monday to Friday, with the Coventry Depot as your main base. You will be responsible for driving to and from various customer and site locations, as well as providing support within the depot when required.

Job Overview - Driver & Depot Support



As a Driver & Depot Support at Vital Group, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day logistics and operational delivery of equipment, materials, and components across the Group's power generation and electric vehicle charging divisions. This role is essential in ensuring that our engineers, customers, and projects receive the right equipment safely, on time, and in excellent condition.

You will be responsible for the collection, loading, and delivery of generators, electrical components, tools, and other materials to sites across the UK, while also providing hands-on support within the Coventry Depot where required. The role requires a strong commitment to safety, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills to represent Vital Group in a professional manner at all times.

Key Responsibilities and Duties



Safely load, secure, transport, and deliver generators, electrical components, equipment and associated materials to and from customer sites, suppliers, and company depots. Conduct pre-journey and post-journey vehicle checks to ensure the vehicle is roadworthy and compliant with legal and company standards. Ensure accurate completion of delivery and collection documentation, including digital job records and proof-of-delivery forms. Work closely with the Operations and Service teams to coordinate daily schedules and prioritise urgent deliveries. Ensure all goods are handled carefully and stored correctly to prevent damage during transit. Represent Vital Group in a professional and courteous manner at all times when interacting with customers, suppliers, and colleagues. Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including health and safety, environmental, and vehicle compliance standards. Report any vehicle defects, accidents, or delivery issues promptly to the Operations Team. Support warehouse and depot operations when required, including assisting with loading/unloading, stock control, and housekeeping. Undertake any additional tasks required to support operational activities, including but not limited to, the delivery of load banks and cables, and assisting engineers with the installation and removal of cable routes where necessary. Ensure the delivery vehicle is kept clean, tidy, and well-presented at all times. Participate in periodic driver training and toolbox talks as required

Person Specification



Criteria - Education, Qualifications & Experience



Essential:



Full UK driving licence (minimum Category B) with a clean driving record. Previous experience as a delivery driver or logistics-based role. Confident driving a sub 3.5 tonne van for local and regional deliveries. Experience and competence in towing trailers or equipment safely and in accordance with road regulations. Good understanding of safe manual handling practices. Excellent organisational and time management skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy when completing paperwork and deliveries. Good communication skills and a professional, customer-focused approach. Ability to work independently and manage own workload effectively. Flexibility to work additional hours or weekends when required. A strong awareness of health, safety, and environmental practices.

Desirable:



Experience delivering equipment within a power generation, construction, or electrical environment. Forklift licence or experience with material handling equipment.
