As a night shift
HGV Shunter
based in the Milton Keynes Distribution Centre, you'll be responsible for:
Safely moving articulated trucks and trailers around the yard, ensuring they are correctly positioned for loading, unloading, and other operations.
Coupling and uncoupling trailers, and ensuring they are secured properly.
Conducting thorough pre- and post-shift vehicle checks to identify any defects or issues and ensure roadworthiness.
Maintaining a safe and organized yard environment, adhering to traffic management plans and health and safety regulations.
Effectively communicating with warehouse staff, loading teams, and other drivers to ensure smooth operations.
Reporting any vehicle defects or maintenance needs promptly.
Maintaining accurate records of vehicle movements and any relevant information.
Adhering to specific instructions from supervisors and the operations team.
You will be working 45 hours a week, Monday to Saturday starting anytime from 18:00 to 3am.
And here's what we'd like you to have:
Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) License
CPC and Digi Tacho Card
A minimum of two years of experience driving articulated vehicles is usually required.
A strong understanding of health and safety regulations, including site safety and traffic management.
Good communication and teamwork skills are essential for effective collaboration with other team members.
Accuracy in vehicle checks and record-keeping is important.
Punctuality and reliability are crucial for night shifts.
The role may involve some physical activity, such as coupling and uncoupling trailers
