The Shetland Community Transport Service provides transport to social and medical appointments for adults across Shetland. It serves clients who are lonely or isolated and have mobility or health problems
The role will work closely with and provide operational support to the Shetland Community Transport Service. The service also has volunteer drivers so you will work closely with them, building relationships to find the best solution for the client
The service operates Monday to Friday and appointments can be early or later so flexibility is required.
Transporting patients to and from hospital, doctor, dentist, optician appointments and social meetings. Some waiting time may be needed.
Keeping accurate records of journeys and reporting back to the office as required.
Follow Royal Voluntary Service Lone Working Policy.
Developing and maintaining relationships with clients and volunteers.
Ensuring compliance with associated statutory standards, policies and procedures e.g. Health and Safety, Data Protection and Safeguarding.
To undertake any other reasonable duties commensurate with the purpose and remit of the post as agreed with the Service Manager
Hours:
Mon - Fri, 4 hour per day with some flexibility required.

DRIVER:
Knowledge
Understanding of and ability to comply with General Data Protection Regulations
Some knowledge of the NHS and the patient journey
Skills
Clean Driving Licence
Excellent communication skills and ability to empathise with people who may be lonely or isolated and may have health problems
Ability to act on own initiative within agreed parameters
Experience
Working with or as a volunteer
Supporting people who may have mobility problems
Experience of carrying out and using risk assessments including dynamic risk assessments
