WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?



We are looking for Shift Driver Managers, for early shifts, which are Monday to Friday, 5.00am to 2.30pm, and for late shifts, which are 10.30am to 8.00pm.

You may bring experience of line management from transport or similar environments.

The Early Shift Driver Managers will be the first point of contact for drivers as they begin their day. They will manage early-morning dispatch operations, ensuring routes are covered, resources are deployed efficiently, and vehicles are available. Their focus will be on ensuring drivers depart on time, properly briefed and compliant with safety and operational standards.

The Late Shift Driver Managers will oversee the return of drivers from their routes, ensuring all returned goods are processed correctly and debrief procedures are followed. They will collaborate with late-day schedulers to manage any late changes, failed deliveries, or extra collections, while upholding compliance and operational efficiency through the evening.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?



Early Shift Driver Manager



In this role, you will:

Manage the Driver Team inbound. Supervise and support 12-15 drivers during early morning dispatch. Oversee route coverage and make real-time adjustments due to absence or additional workload. Manage driver performance to ensure OTIF (On-Time-In-Full) targets are met; regularly review recurring delivery/collection issues and ensure corrective actions are implemented. Manage Agency Driver attendance compliance and competence. Manage courier deployment and respond to vehicle breakdowns or availability issues. Ensure daily compliance with safety standards, driver punctuality, and vehicle image. Provide performance feedback, manage disciplinary and grievance matters, and conduct performance reviews. Carry out first-line investigations into accidents or incidents and escalate as needed. Deliver toolbox talks and communicate operational updates to drive continuous improvement. Maintain accurate training records and assist with audit preparation and compliance requirements. Work closely with scheduling and administrative teams to ensure efficient route allocation. Provide cover for fellow Transport Line Manager's absence. Assist in the management of fleet compliance and administration, booking maintenance, managing costs for the Team fleet and recognising resource requirements in line with the fleet maintenance schedule. Act as a last resort driver in cases of unplanned absence.

Oversee morning vehicle checks and ensure all defects are reported and resolved promptly.

Late Shift Driver Manager



In this role, you will:

Supervise and support 12-15 drivers during their return and debrief processes. Oversee the accurate completion of returns procedures and item reconciliation. Manage driver performance to ensure OTIF (On-Time-In-Full) targets are met; regularly review recurring delivery/collection issues and ensure corrective actions are implemented. Conduct structured debriefs and log any delivery discrepancies or operational issues. Coordinate with late schedulers to manage last-minute collections or failed deliveries. Provide feedback, manage employee relations, including disciplinaries and grievances, and conduct reviews. Lead toolbox talks and deliver training and updates to promote safety and compliance. Investigate and escalate incidents and accidents through first-line reporting. Maintain up-to-date training records and support audit preparation as needed. Work alongside the Compliance and Fleet Line Manager to ensure procedural adherence. Assist in the management of fleet compliance and administration, booking maintenance, managing costs for the Team fleet and recognising resource requirements in line with the fleet maintenance schedule Provide cover for fellow Line Manager's absence. Provide last resort driving cover when necessary.

Analyse returns data to identify recurring issues, providing feedback to scheduling and customer service teams to drive service improvement.
