is a leading local charity supporting individuals with complex needs and people living with sight loss. We are looking for a caring, reliable and friendly Driver to join our Central Resources team. This is a permanent part-time role, offering 20 hours per week.
Role Overview
As a Driver, you will play a vital role in helping adults with complex needs travel safely to and from our day centre. You'll provide a calm, supportive and professional service, ensuring every service user feels comfortable and cared for throughout their journey.
Key Responsibilities
Assist service users, including wheelchair users, with safe entry and exit from the vehicle and safely transport service users according to a planned rota
Carry out routine vehicle checks to maintain cleanliness and safety, reporting concerns to the Fleet Coordinator
Ensure all safety equipment such as First Aid, PPE, infection control boxes, rescue medication and fire safety equipment is present and in good condition
Liaise with staff and family members to share essential information regarding our service users
Complete all required training, including mandatory e-learning, and follow all Focus Birmingham policies and procedures
Essential Requirements
Full, current driving licence with no more than 6 points
D1 entitlement or PCV licence (if test passed after January 1997)
Good driving standards (previous minibus experience beneficial)
Friendly, professional, approachable attitude with an understanding of the needs of adults with disabilities
Desirable Qualifications
MIDAS driver accreditation
Advanced driving training (ROSPA/IAM)
ROSPA defensive driving training
Experience using minibus tail lifts and clamping systems
Experience supporting individuals with visual impairments or complex needs
