Location: Portsmouth with travel to all Wightlink sites when required
A permanent full-time opportunity has arisen for a Driver/Assistant Storeperson. In this role you will provide efficient and safe transportation of goods and materials across Wightlink locations, while supporting stores operations through accurate inventory management, goods handling, and excellent customer service.
This dual-function role ensures smooth logistics operations and maintains optimal stock levels to support ferry operations and customer needs.
Please note due to insurance requirements you must be over the age of 25 and hold a full valid UK driving license.
What you'll be doing
Safely operate company vehicles (up to 3.5 tonnes) for delivery and collection of goods
Conduct daily vehicle safety checks and maintain vehicle cleanliness
Ensure compliance with road transport regulations and company policies
Act as system champion, providing feedback for continuous improvement
Maintain accurate delivery documentation and obtain proof of delivery
Communicate delivery schedules with internal departments and external suppliers
Conduct daily system checks to ensure order triggers are functioning correctly
Receive, check, and process incoming deliveries against purchase orders
Monitor and validate e-ordering system suggestions against actual stock levels
Maintain accurate stock records using computerised inventory management systems
What we're looking for
Driving license essential
Experience in warehouse, stores, or logistics environment
Fork lift truck license would be advantageous but not essential
Proficient IT skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Adept at working with and around customers
This role can be physically demanding. Applicants should be in good health, used to manual handling and comfortable working around water.
