About the role



We have an exciting opportunity to come and join Bury Council as a Driver/Fitter-Store Operative. This is a hands on role where you'll be responsible for the delivery, collection, fitting, maintenance, and management of essential equipment for service users, ensuring everything is handled safely, efficiently and with a high standard of care and professionalism. This is a varied and rewarding role that combines practical, logistical, and customer facing responsibilities. You'll be part of a supportive and collaborative team where communication, flexibility, and mutual respect are valued.

About You



We are seeking a dependable individual with a hands on approach and a genuine commitment to helping others. You take pride in delivering excellent service, whether you're fitting equipment in service users' homes, maintaining stock levels, or ensuring vehicles and stores are safe and well-managed. You're confident communicating with a wide range of people, both in person and remotely and you're comfortable using basic IT systems to keep accurate records. With a good eye for detail and a proactive attitude, you're able to prioritise tasks, solve problems on the go, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team. A full driving license and a willingness to learn and develop your skills are essential.



Normal hours of work are 37 hours per week based around the usual business working week. Dependent on service requirements, you will also be required to work on a on call rota.
