The Role

We are seeking reliable, personable, and physically capable

Driver's Mates

to join our delivery team. As a Driver's Mate, you will assist HGV drivers with delivering goods to customers across England and Wales. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role that requires flexibility, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and teamwork. You'll be responsible for the entire delivery process--helping the driver complete deliveries on time, assisting with unloading, and providing excellent customer service. Due to the nature of the job,

your shift times will fluctuate

based on factors like traffic, delivery delays, and the number of stops. Flexibility is key!

Key Responsibilities

Making Deliveries

: Accompany the driver to customer locations across England and Wales, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries.

Unloading

: Assist with unloading goods at the customer site, ensuring all items are delivered safely and efficiently.

Customer Interaction

: Provide outstanding customer service by being friendly, professional, and approachable when interacting with customers at delivery points. Address any customer queries or concerns promptly and efficiently.

Health & Safety Compliance

: Ensure the safe unloading and handling of goods during the delivery process while adhering to all health and safety regulations.

Route Assistance

: Support the driver in navigating delivery routes, ensuring deliveries are made in a timely and efficient manner.

Problem-Solving

: Assist in resolving any logistical issues that arise during the journey or at the delivery point to ensure smooth operations.

Important Notes on Shift Flexibility

Shift Start Times

: Your shift will begin anytime between

5:00 AM and 8:00 AM

, depending on the delivery schedule.

End Times May Vary

: As this is a

start-to-finish role

, end times are dependent on the completion of deliveries, and may fluctuate. You must be prepared for shifts that may end later than scheduled to ensure all deliveries are completed efficiently and safely.

Flexibility is Key

: The nature of this job requires adaptability--times will vary based on traffic, the volume of deliveries, and other factors.

About You

Personable & Customer-Focused

: Excellent communication skills and a friendly, approachable demeanour are essential for customer interactions during deliveries.

Physically Fit

: Comfortable with manual handling and unloading goods throughout the shift.

Detail-Oriented

: Able to ensure accuracy in deliveries, verifying order contents, and completing required paperwork.

Reliable & Hardworking

: A strong work ethic, dependable, and committed to ensuring smooth and efficient delivery operations.

Team Player

: Able to work well within a team but also independently when needed.

Previous Experience

: Experience in logistics, driving, on-trade hospitality or a similar role is beneficial but not essential--training will be provided.

Full UK Driving License

: Desirable but not essential.
