Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and physically fit Drivers mate/Yard Worker/Holiday Cover Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the organisation and movement of goods within the yard, supporting delivery operations, and maintaining a safe and efficient working environment. Previous experience in warehouse or yard operations, along with driving skills, will be highly valued. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to develop their skills in logistics and manual handling within a dynamic setting.

Duties

Assist with the loading and unloading of goods using appropriate equipment. Operate commercial vehicles, including tankers, road sweepers and vans. Cover portable toilet servicing and deliveries at busy season and when other operatives are on leave. Organise and maintain the yard to ensure safety and accessibility . Support drivers with vehicle checks and maintenance. Conduct routine mechanical inspections on vehicles and equipment to ensure proper functioning Assist with inventory management by recording incoming and outgoing stock accurately Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate daily tasks and deliveries Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times

Skills

A clean and valid driving licence is essential. Knowledge of mechanical systems related to vehicles and yard equipment. Experience with commercial vehicles is preferred. Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and drivers Ability to operate machinery safely and efficiently Good organisational skills to manage multiple tasks within a busy environment Physical fitness for manual handling tasks and working outdoors in various weather conditions
