Overview

The Driver / Shop Assistant supports daily store operations by ensuring timely and safe delivery of goods, providing excellent customer service, and assisting with general shop duties. This role requires reliability, good communication skills, and the ability to work in a trade/retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

Driving & Delivery

Safely operate company vehicle to deliver and collect goods as required. Load and unload products, ensuring items are handled carefully. Plan delivery routes for efficiency and timeliness. Conduct routine vehicle checks and report maintenance needs. Maintain accurate delivery logs and obtain necessary signatures from customers.

Shop Assistance

Assist customers in the store with product enquiries and purchases. Help receive, unpack, and organise stock deliveries. Maintain a clean, well-organised shop floor and stock area. Support inventory counts and stock rotation. Ensure shelves are stocked and displays are neat and presentable.

Customer Service

Provide friendly, helpful, and professional customer service at all times. Address customer questions or direct them to the appropriate staff member. Represent the company positively during deliveries and in-store interactions.

Requirements

Valid driver's license Previous driving or trade/retail experience is an advantage. Good knowledge of local routes and traffic rules. Ability to lift and move medium to heavy items. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Preferred Skills

Experience in customer-facing roles. Basic mechanical or vehicle knowledge. Familiarity with stock management or retail systems.

Working Conditions

Mix of indoor trade/retail work and outdoor driving/delivery. May require weekend or holiday shifts depending on business needs. Physical activity including lifting and carrying.
Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 12.21-13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 - 20 per week
