We are seeking a

Drugs and Alcohol Specialist Practitioner

to provide specialist support, intervention, and education around substance misuse for children and young people aged 16-17 in supported living and residential care settings. The role is integral to promoting wellbeing, safeguarding, and independence in line with

Key Responsibilities



Direct Support & Intervention



Deliver tailored 1:1 and group interventions for young people affected by drug and alcohol use. Conduct assessments and develop care/support plans in collaboration with key workers and social workers. Provide harm reduction strategies and relapse prevention support.

Safeguarding & Compliance



Ensure all work aligns with

Ofsted's Protection Standard (Regulation 5)

and

Support Standard (Regulation 7)

. Maintain accurate case records in line with

Regulation 24

. Report safeguarding concerns and serious incidents in accordance with

Regulation 27

.

Training & Education



Deliver training to staff on substance misuse awareness, trauma-informed approaches, and safeguarding. Educate young people on the risks and consequences of substance misuse, promoting informed choices.

Multi-Agency Working



Liaise with CAMHS, social workers, youth offending teams, and external drug/alcohol services. Participate in care planning and review meetings.

Monitoring & Evaluation



Contribute to the

Quality of Support Review (Regulation 32)

. Use feedback from young people to improve service delivery.

Person Specification



Essential



Qualification in substance misuse, social work, youth work, or related field. Experience working with vulnerable young people in care or supported accommodation. Strong understanding of safeguarding and trauma-informed practice. Knowledge of

The Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations 2023

.

Desirable



Experience in residential care settings. Familiarity with Ofsted inspection frameworks. Motivational interviewing or CBT training.
